Agent Elvis Presley is the titular main protagonist in the 2023 Netflix adult animated action comedy series Agent Elvis.
He is voiced by Matthew McConaughey, who also played as Rustin "Rust" Cohle from True Detective, Buster Moon from the Sing movies and Beetle from Kubo and the Two Strings.
Bio[]
Elvis Presley was a rock superstar and part-time drug-busting vigilante until he was recruited by the Commander into the Central Bureau (or TCB for short). Now he has to learn how to balance his music career with his newfound responsibilities as a government spy while saving the world.
Appearance[]
Elvis has pompadour hair and wears flashy jumpsuits.
Personality[]
Elvis is pretty full of himself (though not without reason), fairly impulsive, and very stubborn, but he's generally also quite polite, loves his wife Priscilla, and is motivated by a genuine desire to protect his country. And he legitimately looks out for all Americans, considering he reacted with abject disgust when he found out how racist Richard Nixon was. Also, he is quite respectful to his mother figure, Bertie.
Story[]
Elvis Presley moonlights as an uncompromising, crime-fighting vigilante with a massive body count of crooks and drug dealers left in his wake. Always suave yet ruthless when fighting or interrogating criminals, Elvis is recruited into The Central Bureau to protect the world from greater threats, nonchalantly carving a bloody path to safety and freedom for the unsuspecting innocents of the nation. The King's ingenuity and skills prove to be the saving grace of TCB in countless situations, from preventing Las Vegas from being nuked to stopping Nixon from learning of the organization's existence, even as he works behind the scenes to uncover his forgotten, tortuous past in their employ. Nonetheless dedicated to saving the world even after discovering the dark truth, Elvis prevents Malus and his hated rival Goulet from murdering millions before he sacrifices himself to save his friends' lives, proving once and for all the awesomeness of the King of Rock and Roll as he faces seemingly certain death with nothing but a confident smile.
Trivia[]
- Unlike the real Elvis, who got addicted to drugs and eventually died from it, this Elvis is completely sober and moonlighted as a part-time drug-busting vigilante prior to being recruited as a government spy.
- The real-life Elvis also had a history of infidelity, while this Elvis remains loyal to Priscilla, though later episodes allude to this by showing she isn't happy with him constantly signing autographs and taking pictures with his legions of female fans, if only because it distracts him from their increasingly distant relationship.
