Elze Mochizuki (née Silhoueska) is one of the secondary protagonists of the In Another World with My Smartphone franchise.
She is an adventurer hailing from Refreese Imperium and the older twin of the Silhoueska twins, who were both saved from a swindler by Touya Mochizuki. Later in the series, Elze trains with Takeru Mochizuki (Touya's fake uncle) and Ende. Contrasting to her magical-oriented younger twin Linze, Elze's combat aspect relies heavily on melee attacks, where she is equipped with a special pair of gauntlets. She later becomes the Eighth Queen of Brunhild Dukedom, one of Touya's wives and the mother of Elna Mochizuki.
She is voiced by Maaya Uchida in Japanese, who voiced Katarina Claes in My Next Life As A Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom, the titular character in Vermeil in Gold, Melty Q. Melromarc in Rising of the Shield Hero and Liliruca Arde in DanMachi. She is voiced by Leah Clark in English, who voiced Asia Argento in High School DxD Hero, Ikuno in DARLING IN THE FRANXX and Kobayashi in Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid.
Appearance[]
Elze is a thirteen-year-old (later fifteen-year-old) teenage girl with green eyes and silver hair that is worn in two "sleeves" close to her face. Her hair is waist length and silver. She has a green bow on the small of her back and is wearing green culotte shorts. She's got a long-sleeved purple top with a white centre on below her shorts.
Elze is seen wearing long, white gloves with tiny ribbons underneath her top, which extend over her elbows. The same rules apply to her knee-high boots, which are purple with white rims and matching purple stockings. The foot portions of the boots are likewise white, like her gloves. Additionally, she is sporting a turquoise necktie with a silver clip close to her neck. This clip has a form that is comparable to the shorts' astrological representation of Pluto.
Personality[]
Elze is honest, upbeat, and real. In the majority of cases, she is foresighted. Elze is one of the series' least reserved characters, save for one particular subject. She is happy to poke fun at Touya with crude comments, and she occasionally discusses perverse events, as when she gave an explanation of why she did not want to face a mega slime, a creature formed entirely of acidic slime. She has avoided talking about her appearance, which is what makes her act in a "tsundere" manner.
Elze is likewise reserved when it comes to her femininity. Her breasts are smaller than Linze's, and she has a hot-headed attitude, which makes her ironically less ladylike. She tried in vain to boost her femininity by growing out her hair, but she didn't start acting more self-assured until she met Touya.
Especially when Touya is involved, she can get quickly humiliated in too romantic or surprising circumstances, which can lead to her hitting him—though usually unintentionally—as she did when he tried to kiss her.
Like all women, Elze hates slimes because they are slimy as well the green slimes melts people's clothes off.
Abilities[]
- Melee Combat Prowess: While lacking the ability to cast any types of magic, Elze makes it up for her close combat-oriented combat abilities. As such that she is equipped with two specialised red and green gauntlet pairs as her primary signature weapons. She can also unleash powerful dropkicks at ease.
- Strength: Elze has a higher-than-above average strength of a normal teenage girl, namely due to her role as a close combatant.
- Agility: Elze is considered more agile, as shown when she is able to unleash multiple dropkicks at a rapid pace.
- Null Magic: Elze is able to use【Boost】, giving her enhanced physical abilities, as well as increasing her speed. After receiving a mystical engagement ring from Touya, she is able to use 【Accel】, 【Storage】, 【Recovery】 and 【Transfer】.
- Improved Fighting Power: Her Dependent Trait. Being Takeru Mochizuki/God of Combat's retainer, her fighting capabilities are increased upon being bestowed by Takeru's divine power.
- Gerhilde: Her personal Frame Gear, which is aimed specifically for hand-to-hand combat against the Phrase.
Trivia[]
- Owing to the astronomical-named theming of Touya's wives, Elze's sign is Pluto.
- Her family has strange hereditary traits; Elze's own daughter is like Linze, while Linze's daughter is like Elze.
- Elze is expressly FORBIDDEN to ever cook for anyone other than herself. Everything she cooks ends up ridiculously spicy to the point it takes several glasses of water to stop the pain.
- Her niece Linne has the same issue.
- Elze thought she was less pretty than Linze, but she grew out of this doubt when Touya bought her a nice dress; she began feeling more confident in her femininity as Touya saw her as just as pretty.
