Ema Skye (Japanese: Akane Hōzuki) is a character in the Ace Attorney series. She is a science obsessed individual, who has aided the protagonists during various cases, often times aiding them with collecting things like fingerprints. In her first appearance she was a bubbly forensic obsessed high school student, who became Phoenix Wright's assistant during a case involving her sister. Following this, she left to study forensic sciences in Europe, before returning to America for summer break. During his break she became involved with a number of Miles Edgeworth's investigations.
Seven years later, Ema took the test to become a forensic scientist but ended up failing. Due to this she was instead thrown into criminal affairs as a homicide detective, which had a major effect on her personality, turning her constantly grumpy and gloomy. She also began to gorge on "snackoos". It was during this time that she came into contact with Phoenix's protégé, Apollo Justice, becoming the regular detective on his cases. She also began to work under prosecutor Klavier Gavin on multiple cases, whom she distantly had a dislike for, resulting in her nicknaming him as a "glimmarous fop".
Around a year later, she retook the forensics exam, and this time was able to pass, finally achieving her dream of becoming a forensic investigator. This brought much of her old personality back, although it was somewhat dampened by a number of cases in which she was forced to build cases against Phoenix Wright's best friend and adoptive daughter, as well as Apollo Justice's foster father. It was also made worse by her having to work with prosecutor Nahyuta Sahdmadi, who was also a religious monk. Due to her obsession with science, his religious ramblings and viewpoints constantly rubbed her the wrong way and caused a general disdain towards him, despite how genuinely nice he was to her a lot of the time. Nayuta's status as an international procescutor also didn't help matters, as Ema had to accompany him on his frequent trips to and from the United States and his home country of Kura'in, leaving her physically exhausted from the jet lag.

- The snack that Ema gorges on to relieve stress are called "snackoos" in the localization. They are actually Karintō, a deep-fried Japanese snack.
- Ema Skye was originally planned to star in her own detective spin-off involving investigating cases and attempting to arrest suspects. However this role was eventually given to Miles Edgeworth, and became the Ace Attorney Investigations series.
