The Emergency Medical Hologram was a minor hero in Star Trek First Contact. He was a Mark I EMH installed on the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-E) that was similar to the EMH installed on USS Voyager.
Like the other Mark I holograms featured in Star Trek media, he was portrayed by Robert Picardo.
During the Borg attack on the Enterprise, Doctor Crusher decided to use the EMH as a distraction to prevent the Borg from assimilating her, her staff, or her patients and to give them time to escape.
The EMH protested that it was not part of his programming, but Doctor Crusher insisted while she and the others escaped into a Jeffries Tube. The Borg drones soon broke down the door, and the EMH kept them busy by telling the drones that according to Starfleet medical research implants were very itchy and asked the drones if they would like analgesic cream.
The EMH would remain on the Enterprise through 2379 as Doctor Crusher preferred the Mark I to the later versions of the EMH.
