Emile-A239, known simply as Emile(pronounced Eh-meal) was a SPARTAN-III who fought as a part of Noble Team during the Fall of Reach during the events of Halo: Reach. His call sign was Noble Four.
He was voiced by Jamie Hector.
Appearance[]
Emile is always shown wearing his intimidating SPARTAN suit of armor. His armor is mostly grey, white and black, with a brown-red pauldron on his right shoulder and a red, horizontal strip on his right thigh. The most noticeable part of his armor is his helmet with a skull carved onto it. The skull is supposed to be a sign of death to the enemy, and every scratch mark that makes the skull was carved by his knife for every Elite that he's killed. He also appears to have bandoliers om his chest and what looks like grenade launcher shells on his belt. The large shoulder plate he has serves a purpose to sheath his large kukri blade.
Although his face is never physically shown in the video game, concept art reveals him to be a black man with a black buzz cut, dark brown eyes, some stubble but not much facial hair, and many scars on his face, due to him being a CQC soldier.
Personality[]
In accordance to his grim armor design, his personality is very rough, rowdy, and unremorseful. He is a savage in combat who prefers to pump lead into everyone's heads and kill as many enemies as he can. Everything about him is so that he can break the enemy's will to fight, from his body armor to his combat style. He is a fearless and unbreakable ally to Noble Team and the UNSC, making him a deadly foe and a great ally. Despite his tendency to be rough and mean, he is extremely loyal to his allies. However, he is noted to be very bad with civilians even though he's trying to protect them.
Being subject to such tragedies has had an impact on his personality, just like many other Spartans. All he worries about is being a brute to break the Covenant, and he has likely forgotten how to act nice to others. Fighting for his survival and the enemies' deaths has made him forget to care for other people besides his teammates, but while caring he can’t offer much mental support beyond just defending them.
Story[]
Growing up without a family, much of his life without one was spent in training to become a SPARTAN-III. He was more determined to kill than almost anyone else, so he excelled in training. He graduated from the training program at 13 years of age and soon became a member of Noble Team, led by Carter-A259. During his time as a member of the team, he witnessed the death of (the former) Noble Six, Thom-A293. Carter took responsibility for this loss, and Noble Team was damaged.
Later, Noble Team was called to the Planet Reach. They were met with a new teammate to compensate for the loss of Thom-- SPARTAN-B312. He was given the call sign Noble Six. Throughout the events of the game, the apocalyptic planet Reach was where 2 of the members of Noble Team were killed. During the 10th mission of the game, The Package, Noble Six and Emile race each other to the Pillar of Autumn, a ship where they have to deliver a package to Jacob Keyes. They succeeded in delivering the package to Captain Keyes.
Death[]

Even in death, Emile's willpower never wavered. After being impaled through the chest by an Elite with an Energy Sword, he put his own blade into the Elite's neck, taking the Elite down with him in a mutual kill. In the end, it seemed that Noble Six survived the longest, as Carter gave his life to clear the path for Emile and Six by crashing his Pelican into a Scarab, an alien mech that they did not have the firepower to destroy. Six mounted the mass driver gun that Emile manned before and destroyed a large Covenant CCS-class battlecruiser to prevent it from glassing the area, so that the Pillar of Autumn could leave safely. Being stranded on the planet all alone, with all of his teammates dead except for Jun, who already left the planet, he was left for dead. He died in the same manner as Emile, staying defiant to the end. Even against impossible odds, he killed a ton of enemies.
Aftermath[]

The package he and Six delivered was Cortana. After being paired with John-117, they would turn the tide of the Human-Covenant War, resulting in Humanity's survival, ability to rebuild, the Elites becoming uneasy allies of Humanity, while the Covenant Empire collapses following the death of the Prophet of Truth during the Battle of the Ark/Installation 00. By 2589, Reach had been terraformed to become habitable again and was being recolonized.
