~ Emma determining the turn order |
Emma is the tritagonist of the 2023 reboot of the Canadian animated series Total Drama Island, and a supporting character of its second season. She is a member of the Frogs of Death in the first reboot season, a member of Team Rat Face in the second season, and the ex-girlfriend of Chase.
Emma finishes the first reboot season in fifth place, being voted out at the final five. In the second reboot season, she does not fare nearly as well, being the fourth camper voted out, thus finishing in thirteenth place because she ignored helping Priya and Caleb on the last two Would You Rather questions.
She was voiced by Melanie Leishman.
Appearance[]
Emma is a white teenage girl who has a light skin complexion with blue ovoid eyes and blonde hair tied back into a mid-length ponytail with a pink scrunchie. She wears a marigold orange sweater over a cream collared blouse with a matching pleated skirt that goes down to just above her knees, and she has white-and-baby pink platform shoes.
Personality[]
“ | Hey there! I'm Emma! I'd be great on Total Drama Island! I used to be part of a fun livestream with my boyfriend and his buddies, doing all these crazy challenges. I'm not part of that gig anymore, because my stupid boyfriend, Chase, is now my stupid ex-boyfriend, and I am never going to see him again! | „ |
~ Emma's introduction. |
Emma, for the most part, is bright, bubbly, and very outgoing. She is generally nice, friendly, polite, and good-natured, and she has a good heart . . . except when interacting with her ex-boyfriend, Chase. When talking to him, she can get very tense and spew much bile at him, largely due to how idiotically selfish, callous, and short-sighted he was during their relationship. Nonetheless, deep down, there is a part of her that will always love him and hope for him to change into a more selfless, less reckless boy so that she can reconcile with him. Until then, however, she sees them more as exes and enemies than anywhere close to a couple.
During the team phase of the first reboot season, Emma is always a team player, giving it her all in the challenges. She is very smart and can often come up with creative ideas and solutions to help her team win the challenges. This same creativity also serves her well in the merge/individual phase of the game, as she manages to win at least one individual immunity challenge.
Although her relationship with Chase is very combative, Emma does at least have a close friendship with Bowie (at least before he betrays her by voting Chase out when he and Emma reconciled near the end of the first reboot season and lies to her about it) and is very supportive of his growing relationship with Raj. By the second reboot season, however, she has forgiven Bowie for the lie (due to her and Chase having broken up yet again) and now, like the bulk of their fellow contestants, despises him for sabotaging Priya and Millie's friendship.
Trivia[]
- Emma and Chase are the first couple (or ex-couple) to come to Total Drama after having an established relationship in the outside world before the show.
- Although the show rightly depicts Emma as being on the right to despise Chase and not wanting anything to do with him due to how he nearly got her killed, it's possible that there's a darker side in her personality that suggests she isn't as "innocent" as the show makes her look. As she has shown multiple times in the first few episodes that she loves seeing Chase suffer and wants revenge on him as she is mostly the one that causes Chase to get hurt, but even though her anger towards Chase was justified, her actions are not. it's revealed in "The Truth, The Pole Truth and Nothing but the Truth", Chase hurt both Emma's uncle and mother when Emma lists reasons to hate him, but surprisingly, she never considered to leave him until he endangered her life, which could hint some self-centeredness.
- On the other hand, it might've simply been Emma trying to convince herself that Chase meant well in all of those cases until the one time in which he clearly did not, and that particular time served as the straw that broke the camel's back for her.
