No world shall be beyond my rule, no enemy shall be beyond my wrath.
~ Emperor of Mankind
The universe has many horrors yet to throw at us. This is not the end of our struggle. This is just the beginning of our crusade to save Humanity. Be faithful! Be strong! Be vigilant!
~ Emperor of Mankind

The Emperor of Mankind, also referred to as the God-Emperor of Mankind, is the overarching protagonist of the Warhammer 40,000 franchise. As the most powerful human psyker to ever exist, He is the founder and sole monarch of the Imperium of Man as well as the deity of the Imperial Cult.

Having existed for tens-of-thousands of years, the Emperor has guided mankind since the dawn of their history and has since become their greatest protector and hope against the seemingly limitless threats that threaten them within the galaxy. As such, He has earned the animosity of the Chaos Gods, powerful psychic beings existing in the Immaterium, due to being seen as the embodiment of order and stability as well as His constant efforts to thwart their evil plans. Eventually, the four Gods conspired against Him by corrupting his favored son Horus into rebelling against him, igniting a galaxy-spanning civil war. Although Horus was eventually slain by the Emperor’s hand, the Imperium was left in ruins and the Emperor was fatally wounded; being forced to be confined to the Golden Throne to put Him in suspended animation lest the Imperium permanently lose his guiding hand.

Since then, the Emperor has been reduced to a rotting corpse with a barely-sustainable consciousness, unable to fully interact with or save the Imperium which had succumbed to tyranny and fanaticism upon his death. Despite this, the Emperor is not truly dead, and if not for his unconditional love for humanity, both the galaxy and humanity would've fallen to Chaos, and there's no telling whether or not the galaxy and humanity will truly be saved.

Early Life[]

Around the time the Warp began to destabilize, numerous human psykers/shamans living in Neolithic Earth came to the conclusion that a savior needed to be born amongst their race to save them from the oncoming disaster that would engulf them all. So, in mass ritualistic suicide, the human psykers fused their psychic souls into one, reincarnated as one vastly powerful psyker in Anatolia, one who would later be known as the Emperor of Mankind

Now reincarnated, the child who would later become the Emperor was born to a normal mother and father, with normal brothers and sisters. During his childhood, the Emperor’s father was killed by his uncle, with the Emperor being able to perceive this crime with his psychic powers. During his father’s funeral, the Emperor, with no emotion, walked up to his uncle and stopped his heart with his mind. From that moment on, the Emperor came to the conclusion that humanity will collapse into evil if not properly controlled by a guiding hand.

During Ancient Greek era, the man who would become the Emperor created one of the largest empires in mankind history under the alias, Alexander III of Macedon, also known as, Alexander the Great. Later, during the Ancient Roman era, he become a religious leader using the name, Jesus, which after his execution by the hands of Romans, his teaching became Christianity, which lasted for millennia before ironically ended by its founder during the Unification Wars.

At some point, he would conceive multiple children called Primarchs, however, the Chaos Gods, in direct defiance of him, scattered the Primarchs across the Milky Way Galaxy. As the Primarchs were raised by different people, the Emperor found and raised his strongest and most powerful son, Horus Lupercal, whom would soon become the Emperor's favorite son.

The Horus Heresy[]

Eventually, however, Horus would be corrupted and eventually fall to Chaos, beginning a revolution against the Emperor, nearly destroying the Imperium in the process. Hoping to put an end to this, the Emperor confronted Horus, but could not bring himself to kill his favorite son, and thus, Horus was able to overpower and nearly kill the Emperor. Before Horus could finish him off, a soldier named Ollanius Pius stood up to Horus, causing Horus to kill him with a glare. Upon seeing this, the Emperor realized Horus was too far gone and quickly overpowered and defeated Horus, upon realizing the terrible things he had done, Horus begged the Emperor to kill him, which the Emperor quickly did. Though the Horus Heresy was over, the Emperor and the Imperium were left broken, and now the Emperor sits on the Golden Throne, still battling the Chaos Gods from afar, whether or not he will be revived remains to be seen.
