Emporio Ivankov, or Iva for short, is the "Queen" of the Kamabakka Kingdom, known as "Okama King" and a "Miracle Person", and a commander of the Revolutionary Army's G Army (as the one of the three founders of the Revolutionary along with Dragon and Kuma). He is one of the supporting characters of One Piece.
He was formerly a prisoner of Impel Down kept in Level 5, living in a secret "Okama Paradise" in level 5.5, but has since returned to his post as Queen of Kamabakka Kingdom. He challenged Sanji to defeat his 99 masters of Newkama Kenpo for the secret of the "attack cuisine" and a boat, during the two year timeskip.

He first appears as a prisoner of Impel Down kept in Level 5, living in a secret "Okama Paradise" in level 5.5, but has since returned to his post as Queen of Kamabakka Kingdom. He challenged Sanji to defeat his 99 masters of Newkama Kenpo for the secret of the "attack cuisine" and a boat, during the two-year timeskip. He ate a devil fruit called the Horm-Horm Fruit (Horu Horu no Mi), which allows him to inject hormones into the human body and can cause sex changes, increased adrenaline, bodily growth, and other things, which in his words make him an "engineer of the human body". This is the reason that he was able to heal many people from the brink of death. However, he claims he's not a "Miracle Worker," and merely allowed people with the "Will to Live" to go on. He can't help those who don't have the drive to help themselves. He is also a master of Newkama Kenpo. He revealed to be the former Celestial Dragons' slave and met Kuma when they were kids as well they've escaped from the Celestial Dragons.
Appearance
Ivankov is a large man with an afro of indigo hair, and has long eyelashes, he also has a noticeably-odd shaped chin resembling an arrowhead. His afro is large enough to hold people inside it. He has a personal Jolly Rogertattooed just below his chest.

  +
He was formerly voiced by Norio Imamura and currently voiced by Mitsuo Iwata in the Japanese version, and by Randy Pearlman in the English version.
As an okama, he dresses in reddish-purple woman's garments with heavy makeup. To signify his queen-ship of New Kama Land, he wears a queen's crown with a king's crown on top.

  +
Biography
Using his Emporio Female Hormones on himself, Ivankov can become a large-sized, relatively curvy woman. This form is more realistically proportioned (relatively speaking) than his male form, and is rather well endowed. Because of the clothes he wears as an okama, this form is also scantily dressed. Despite the changes brought on by the hormones however, he is still incredibly tall and is at least twice, if not three times the size of the Impel Down officer Sadi. While in a flashback as a Revolutionary, Iva has been seen wearing a cloak, and without the crown.

In the past, Ivankov was a slave to the Celestial Dragons. When he was fifteen, he was part of the hunting game to be hunted at God Valley along with Ginny, where they met Bartholomew Kuma, who was also a slave. Iva inspired his fellow slaves to escape, warning them that the Celestial Dragons were lying over freeing them to keep them in line and they should escape. His words rallied the other slaves and he and Ginny revealed they leaked the info of prizes to the outside world and if they were lucky they could escape in the chaos. Indeed, the Rocks Pirates and Roger Pirates arrived on the island, initiating a conflict that increased with the arrival of Garp, causing an event known as God Valley Incident. During the chaos, Iva told others with the current chaos, they should steal the prizes that were devil fruits they could use to escape the island and Kuma volunteered to help Iva. Kuma was able to eat the Paw-Paw fruit but Iva was prevented from eating the other fruit, that later fell into Kaido's hands. Regardless, Kuma presumably used his powers to allow at least 500 safe escape from the island, returning to his homeland of Sorbet Kingdom. In the weeks that followed, Iva discovered the Government covered up most of the battle and only regarded as a hero. Sometime later, Iva decided to bask in his new freedom by setting out to sea and bidding farewell to Kuma and Ginny, vowing to seeing them again.

  +
Iva eventually ate a devil fruit, becoming known for being responsible for many "miracles" after people from across the world sought him out. Some ended up becoming followers of his and followed him in becoming an okama. At an unknown point, he met Crocodile when the latter was starting out as a rookie and he discovered Crocodile's "precious weakness".
In the anime, when Iva turns into a woman, he keeps his male voice, unlike the other characters who are changed by his powers, although his voice sounds slightly different between male and female.

At least 22 years before the start of the series, he met Monkey D. Dragon and joined the Freedom Fighters. They would go about liberating kingdoms under corrupt monarchs. Eventually, Iva mentioned Bartholomew Kuma, as a candidate to recruit. Iva and Dragon liberated Sorbet Kingdom from the king and sprung Kuma and Ginny from prison, when they rebelled. Kuma and Ginny were surprised to be reunited with Iva who told them to join them in freeing other kingdoms, something they agreed too. Over time, their group grew until they went onto form the Revolutionary Army.
Personality
As an okama, Iva is an effeminate cross dressing man. He also has a tendency to put "buru" at the end of a sentence as well as pronounce "watashi" and "anata" with a v (vatashi and vanata). He also tends to sometimes proclaim the exact opposite of a statement he has just said, with people believing this is his sense of humor, such as saying that he would not mind being called "Crap", before hastily announcing that he would not be referred to as such. He is noted for not being picky on what Japanese honorific someone can use when addressing him.[6]

12 years ago, the revolutionaries saved people at Gray Terminal, Ivankov voiced disgusted at the nobles for doing this and questioned Dragon if the place had meaning to him, having no idea that Dragon was actually born in Goa Kingdom. Dragon simply voiced how the kingdom was an example of oppression and that he intended to change the world so that nobody would suffer like this before telling the survivors to come aboard. While docking by a nearby village, Iva voiced annoyance by Dragon being late before the latter appeared and Iva questioned why he took so long, while Dragon apologized and Iva noted on the injured child that he was carrying. The boy was given medical attention and Iva commented on Dragon's situation but Dragon had them set sail. The boy later awoke and was diagnosed with amnesia but his name was revealed to be Sabo who begged to stay with them.
Being one who follows the way of the Okama, Iva strongly values friendship and bonds above all else. He seems to find great motivation at helping both friends and subordinates, and is ready to put his life on the line for their sake, as seen when he flew into a rage against Kuma when the latter attacked his "candies". Due to this trait, Ivankov willingly saved Luffy and Bentham when they were on the verge of death after being touched by Luffy's selflessness and pleading to save Bentham.

  +
Iva later went onto the G Army Commander of the Revolutionary Army, which focuses the Grand Line. Likewise, he used to be the ruler of Kamabakka Kingdom, known as a "Miracle Worker" for saving the lives of several people. However, because he's also an officer of the Revolutionaries trying to overthrow the World Government, he was captured and put into the world's worst prison, Impel Down.
He also believes that people should be what they want to be whether it be a man, woman, or okama. He is very loud and open, even perverse, about his ideals as well. He does not care about other people's objections to his views, he even turned a man who tries to kill him into a woman, after the man (now woman) was embarrassed by his ordeal and had previously stated he objected to Ivankov's views. He states that as a prisoner of Impel Down he is not such a good person as he would not save someone's life. However, when touched by the words of friendship and hope, he considers their life worth saving.

Impel Down Arc
He thinks that "miracles" only come to those who never give up and therefore should not be taken lightly of and nor should those who can muster within themselves to produce such also be looked down upon. He also dislikes people who rely on others to save them, and believes they are not worth being saved. According to him, he always questions the "Will to Live" of nations he saved. Additionally, he also seems to be perceptive, being able to tell a person's physical health condition after observing them for a short while; Ivankov's intelligence also extends to being able to estimate what "toll" his Devil Fruit power upon those he uses it on. This as well as noticing Dragon's habit of looking towards the East Blue when the wind blows, and correctly assumed it was because his family was there.

  +
He and his loyal followers slipped out of their cells and made their sanctuary in a hidden area in the prison. They would remain there until he met Monkey D. Luffy, who he was shocked (albeit belated) to learn was the son of his leader. Iva was shocked by this news before realizing it made sense on how Luffy did not look like a liar and his strong will to live, despite the odds. He asked Luffy on his hometown's location and was told East Blue, as Iva thought back on Dragon always looking to the East and how he refused to answer a question about having family out in the world.

  +
With Luffy, Iva along with 249 prisoners led a mass breakout to rescue Ace, though at the cost of Mr. 2's sacrifice. Iva mourned the actions of his admirer and new friend.
Before his meeting with Luffy, he did not express interest in breaking out of prison. He stated that he will escape when Dragon and the revolutionaries would take down the World Government. However, when Ivankov learned that Luffy was Dragon's son, he decided to help Luffy rescue Ace, considering his duty to his "personal compatriot", Dragon.[7] He has a hatred towards anyone who has forgotten him, claiming that no one could possibly forget his face.[8]

  +
Marineford War Arc
He also tends to call people by their name or nickname (or part of it) followed with "boy" (ボーイ bōi?), like calling Mr 2 Bon Kurei "Bon-boy",[9] Luffy as "Straw Hat-boy",[10] and Crocodile "Croco-boy". Iva often shouts "Hee-Haw!" (ヒーハー Hīhā?); in the Shonen Jump translation, he shouts "Woo-Hoo!". Like other characters in One Piece, Ivankov has his own laughter style: Mmmfufufu (ンフフフ nfufufu?).

  +
He participated in the war, where he was shocked by Luffy conversing with Whitebeard so casually while remarking on how Luffy has his father's tenacity.

  +
Iva was also shocked when Kuma relentlessly attacked him, before being informed by Donquixote Doflamingo that Kuma was under the marines' control. He was shocked as Kuma would never serve the World Government before he is shocked by the Pacifista appearing and can only say Kuma's name repeatedly in shock.
Abilities and Powers
He is considered the greatest okama in the world. As queen of Kamabakka Kingdom, Iva controls an island of male transvestites, which gives him a similar status on par with Boa Hancock, who rules over Amazon Lily. In Impel Down, he set up his new kingdom (or queendom) called New Kama Land and commanded a small army of "New Kama Okama" followers, all of whom were former prisoners. Following the war, he returned to Kamabakka Kingdom along with his New Kama Land followers, uniting his 2 king/queendoms.

  +
When Luffy needed Iva to inject him, Iva was reluctant but ultimately conceded to Luffy's wish. He was later amazed by the young man using Conqueror's Haki to knock out the executioners and questioned him on this. After Luffy made it clear that he had no idea of what he was talking about, Iva noted that Luffy was unaware of it but noted this explains why Luffy attracts people with his great power and quietly remarking to Dragon that his son is remarkable. Soon he was surprised when Whitebeard ordered to back up Luffy in saving Ace, with many impeding the marine's attempts to stop Luffy.
As an officer of the Revolutionaries, Iva has control over the lower ranking members of the army. He appears to have considerable skills as a leader, evident by his ability to unite the rag-tag group of unruly inmates that strayed away and eventually found themselves in New Kama Land under his command.

  +
After Ace was murdered by Akainu in cold blood, Ivankov protected Luffy who went into shock and was carried by Jinbe from the crazed Admiral and with his followers. However, he was defeated after putting up a valiant fight against Akainu.
In contrast to his rather comical appearance, Ivankov is a powerful fighter should the need arise. His strength is great enough to allow him to fight on equal terms with the completely transformed Pacifista, ShichibukaiBartholomew Kuma. He was able to easily defeat (without any visible damage) Sanji, one of the Straw Hats' top fighters. Upon encountering Crocodile in Impel Down, he also mentioned that he could defeat the former Shichibukai if necessary.

  +
Post War Arc
Another helpful, if comical, asset Ivankov has is that he wears a great deal of make-up, enough to essentially create a "mask" which was able to completely shield his face from Magellan's corrosive poison and Akainu's magma in the anime, though in the latter case, it did not prevent him from getting hurt as he fainted soon afterwards.

  +
Sometime after, he is shown to survive Akainu's rampage and had gotten into the Marines' battleship as well as made acquaintance with Boa Hancock (who turned the Marines onboard to stone) and Trafalgar Law who had saved Luffy.

  +
Ivankov placed Luffy's well-being into their hands and the waking Jinbe, while remarking on how they came together because of Luffy later returned to Kamabakka Kingdom and bid farewell to Luffy, who he hoped to meet again.
Ivankov also appears to have some knowledge regarding Haki, having asked Luffy about it at the final stages of the battle at Marineford, and the fact that he was able to retain his consciousness after Luffy unleashed a surge of Haoshoku Haki throughout Marineford (that incapacitated both Marine and pirate alike) despite being so close to the boy while running side by side with him suggests remarkable willpower on Ivankov's part.

  +
Upon returning home, Ivankov later met Sanji, though was unsure if he was really a Straw Hat but gave him the newspaper of his captain's activity. He is then told that he has a call, it was Dragon who received word Ivankov broke out and Iva reported on the fortunate meeting with Luffy, while noting as well as how Dragon's whole identity has been revealed Dragon being the son of Garp and father of Luffy. He asked Dragon if the men were upset but Dragon stated they were happy to learn he was human before voiced his gratitude to Iva for looking out for his son. Ivankov accepted it and remarked that it was fate before discussing Kuma and Dragon's plans. Iva then asked if he saw Luffy's actions in the newspaper and called him as wild as his father, voicing how Luffy returned to Marineford.
Physical AbilitiesEdit
Ivankov has massive physical strength befitting his size. He can easily carry a normal sized prison guard with only one hand while searching for Ace in Level 6 prison of Impel Down. With a single kick, he could knock Bartholomew Kuma away with great force despite the latter's cybernetic reinforced durability as a Pacifista without any strain on his leg whereas Sanji, who has fearsome kicking power ended up damaging his own leg when he attacked Kuma back at Thriller Bark. Despite his size, Ivankov is extremely fast with incredible agility. In the anime, Ivankov can effortlessly evade Magellan's poison attacks while playing around and also dodged Kuma's lasers while rotating at high speed. Even with an enlarged head, he can maneuver fast enough to create multiple afterimages of himself to use his Galaxy Wink technique. His agility can be further enhanced by transforming himself into a woman. As a woman, Ivankov has outstanding acrobatic prowess, able to perform extraordinary feats of somersaults, handsprings, and flips. He easily overwhelms Sadi in terms of speed, able to attack and evade with fluid mobility. Ivankov is also an extremely skilled and versatile martial artist. In addition to Newkama Kenpo, he is also an expert wrestler. He employed Newkama Kenpo techniques as a man and kicks and wrestling techniques as a woman. He easily defeated Chief Guard Sadi, one of the strongest among the staff of Impel Down, without any injuries. He also successfully injured Magellan before succumbing to his poison. He easily defeated Sanji, who is powerful enough to defeat monsters and dangerous enemies such as Jabra, an extremely powerful Rokushiki master.

  +
He later became an instructor of Sanji to train for two years, promising him passage off the island and the food recipes if he defeated the masters and not become an Okama.
Ivankov has immense endurance, as he could stand in Level 5, also known as the Freezing Hell, without showing any signs of discomfort even though the temperature was so low that prisoners were losing their limbs from extreme frostbite. Enhanced with his hormones, he could survive exposure to Magellan's deadly poison and muster enough strength to launch himself to Level 2 while carrying Inazuma. He also recovered shortly after escaping from Impel Down. In the anime, he can defend against the full force of Sanji's Diable Jambe enhanced kicks with his arms crossed without any effort.

Ivankov ate the Horu Horu no Mi, which allows him to control the hormones of the human body, and is one of the very few known powers coming from a Devil Fruit that can affect other people's bodies as well as his/her own. This power led him to be known as the "Miracle Person".

He can remodel a human from the inside, which allows them to change all physical aspects, including: sex, growth, skin pigment, and many other things.

This also allows him to boost a person's chances of survival from conditions that would otherwise mean certain death. However, it is only a slight increase, so only those with a strong enough will can recover. Also, the process apparently shortens a person's potential lifespan.

  +
He allowed the other revolutionaries to settle on his island after the main HQ was destroyed by the Marines and the Blackbeard Pirates. He also remarked to Dragon on how Luffy's infamy was increasing and that he is definitely his father's son, before shifting to talking about Sanji. It became apparent that he now knew Sanji really was a member of the Straw Hat Pirates and was annoyed that he didn't tell him that he was actually a Germa Prince.

Ivankov is an extremely powerful grandmaster of a martial art called the Newkama Kenpo. Ivankov could injure Chief Warden Magellan before losing to his poison ability and during the Marineford War, Ivankov was practically the first (and probably the only one) to actually harm Kuma throughout the extent of the battle. In the anime, he easily overpowered and defeated Sanji, a powerful master of the Black Leg Style. Ivankov's trademark technique is the Death Wink. This ridiculous but powerful attack creates a massive shockwave simply by winking. He demonstrated this wink on a man who swore revenge on him because Ivankov had turned his father, who was a king, into a woman. The man fired with his bazooka and Ivankov used the Death Wink to repel the blast. His Death Wink is powerful enough to shatter steel traps. This attack is often powered up by Ivankov's Devil Fruit, using it to increase the size of his own head, creating the more powerful Hell Wink.

~ Ivankov's deceiving catchphrase

Emporio Ivankov, or Iva for short, is the "Queen" of the Kamabakka Kingdom, known as "Okama King" and a "Miracle Person", and a commander of the Revolutionary Army's G Army (as the one of the three founders of the Revolutionary along with Dragon and Kuma). He is one of the supporting characters of One Piece.

He was formerly voiced by Norio Imamura and currently voiced by Mitsuo Iwata in the Japanese version, and by Randy Pearlman in the English version.

Biography

However, because he's also an officer of the Revolutionaries trying to overthrow the World Government, he was captured and put into the world's worst prison, Impel Down.

Impel Down Arc

He and his loyal followers slipped out of their cells and made their sanctuary in a hidden area in the prison. They would remain there until he met Monkey D. Luffy, who he was shocked (albeit belated) to learn was the son of his leader. Iva was shocked by this news before realizing it made sense on how Luffy did not look like a liar and his strong will to live, despite the odds. Marineford War Arc

He participated in the war, where he was shocked by Luffy conversing with Whitebeard so casually while remarking on how Luffy has his father's tenacity.

After Ace was murdered by Akainu in cold blood, Ivankov protected Luffy who went into shock and was carried by Jinbe from the crazed Admiral and with his followers. However, he was defeated after putting up a valiant fight against Akainu.

Post War Arc

Sometime after, he is shown to survive Akainu's rampage and had gotten into the Marines' battleship as well as made acquaintance with Boa Hancock (who turned the Marines onboard to stone) and Trafalgar Law who had saved Luffy.

Ivankov placed Luffy's well-being into their hands and the waking Jinbe, while remarking on how they came together because of Luffy later returned to Kamabakka Kingdom and bid farewell to Luffy, who he hoped to meet again.

He later became an instructor of Sanji to train for two years, promising him passage off the island and the food recipes if he defeated the masters and not become an Okama.

Timeskip

Sanji completed Iva's training and the latter kept his word and gave Sanji a boat to reunite with his friends.

From the Decks of the world

He read about the Straw Hats return and their actions in Dressrosa.

Tottoland Arc

He allowed the other revolutionaries to settle on his island after the main HQ was destroyed by the Marines and the Blackbeard Pirates. He also remarked to Dragon on how Luffy's infamy was increasing and that he is definitely his father's son, before shifting to talking about Sanji. It became apparent that he now knew Sanji really was a member of the Straw Hat Pirates and was annoyed that he didn't tell him that he was actually a Germa Prince.
