~ Ena in one of her Sad moods. |
The Ena, stylized as ƎNA, is the titular main protagonist of the first season of the YouTube and Newgrounds animated series of the same name, as well as a cameo character in the 2025 videogame ENA: Dream BBQ.
She is a Picasso-esque dissociative girl living in an equally abstract and bizarre world. Often accompanied by her best friend Moony, Ena ventures her world in hopes to dispose of her dissociative nature and sadness, naturally winding up in more bizarre situations as she does.
Portrayals[]
- Her happy side was voiced by Marc Rafanan in Auction Day, Gabe V. from Extinction Party to Temptation Stairway, and Griffin Patu in Power of Potluck onwards.
- Her sad side is voiced by Lizzie Freeman, who also voices Trish Una in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part V: Golden Wind, Lily from Dragalia Lost, Lisia from Pokémon Journeys: The Series, Meggy Spletzer from SMG4 and Sunset Paradise, Cardinal from Sword Art Online: Alicization, Chizuru Ichinose from Rent-A Girlfriend, and Pomni in The Amazing Digital Circus.
- Her drunk state is voiced by Sam Meza.
Appearance[]
The Ena is a feminine humanoid character who possessed a dual-colored body, her right side blue and geometric and her left side yellow and smooth (although, her torso is completely blue and geometric). Her hair is different lengths on either side, her right side being longer and straight (also showing her blue ear) and her left side resembling a bob cut (also covering her yellow ear) with two triangular ahoges. She also has blunt cut bangs. Her eyes are unique in shape, one being a diamond with a black triangle under it (resembling an eyelash) and the other a half-circle.
Personality[]
In Auction Day and Extinction Party, the Ena's mood would affect her voice, with her happy/drunk sides sounding masculine and her sad/depressed sides sounding feminine. However, in Temptation Stairway her voice is unaffected by her different emotional states and regularly fluctuates from masculine to feminine.
When sad, she's constantly on the verge of tears and is always blubbering that she's too stupid to do anything. Mentioning pessimistic things or being in slightly stressful situations are enough for her to turn into this state. Her emotional changes are signified by her briefly standing up straight, when normally her knees are bent inwards. If her emotions become too strong, she will become depressed and will beg to be killed. Usually she'll feel sick too (like in Auction Day, where she pukes in this state). If she gets too sad, she might appear as her full-sadness form, stomping, covering her blank face, and crying. It appears that her positive side takes over as soon as possible whenever she is sad, possibly to keep her from putting herself in serious danger. Whenever this happens, the Ena will apologize for her behavior. She doesn't seem to mind her different emotional states and is instead more concerned about the impacts they have on her friends.
Apart from this, she can just be good-natured. Though, the Ena is also seen to be stubborn in situations that don't involve her own emotions, in which she'll quickly abandon, change or split back and forth from. When asked to give a blood sample to visit Moony, she avidly refuses and when the people she meets inside the area tell her to leave she insists on continuing her adventure. In the Power of Pottluck, it's revealed that Ena is rather insecure, not fully understanding the bizarre world that surrounds her and putting on a happy face just to keep others in good spirits. She attempts to enter the Theater to understand true happiness, but after meeting the Therapist, is assured that she can find another way to be truly happy and doesn't need to return anymore.

Powers and Abilities[]
Alternate forms - When experiencing a particular emotion, typically to the point of which her face becomes half white, the Ena will occasionally shift into other forms. These vary from small to prolonged instances and usually reflect the emotion she was feeling before transforming.
Trivia[]
- This Ena has a strong love for Turrón, as revealed in Temptation Stairway.
- One line from the Shepherd in Temptation Stairway implies that there might be more than one Ena, presumably as a form of species. This is evident after the Ena's encounter with the Shepherd, as she comes across a room of three other Enas floating in the void, sometimes glitching into Mannequins for a split second.
- ENA: Dream BBQ revolves around the adventures of a second ENA, confirming this.
- The Ena seems to have an easily upset stomach when sad, as she is shown vomiting in both Auction Day and Temptation Stairway before turning into her sad form.
- The Ena's sad/depressed form has a speech impediment, consistently pronouncing her R's and L's as W's.
- The 404 page of Joel G's website shows the Ena in the middle of changing into her sad side in Auction Day, but featuring empty, dark eyes instead of static.
- According to Joel G. on one of his Twitch streams, the Ena is "Taller than the average person". Fans have taken this to mean 9 feet tall, however, no official height has ever been confirmed.
- It is thought the Ena has bipolar/mood disorder due to her being unable to control her emotions. Her drunkenness is her "manic highs" and her sadness/depression is her "depressive lows." However, this is never stated to be the case.
- In ENA: Dream BBQ, this ENA's sad side makes a short cameo appearance at the end of Chapter one, where Salesperson ENA's mannequin changes to the former appearance for a split second before materializing her. The full implications of this are unknown.
