Endie, Skellington and Spider, known together as the Yellow Team, are three of the five tritagonists (alongside the Warden and the Titan Ravager) of Season 3 of the AvM Shorts. They have also made a minor appearance in the Actual Shorts miniseries and Season 4.
They are three of the several students at Herobrine's Monster School. Originally a trio of simple bullies, they eventually change for the better and start a friendship with Red after he helps them win the Team Race, and assist him in the fight against King Orange.
History[]
Season 3[]
="Monster School"[]
The trio is first introduced when Red barges in into the Monster School. Endie is talking with other students, Skellington is working on his bow in front of Creep and Zombee (a Creeper and Zombie respectively). During the class' lesson, Sneaking, all three fail: Skellington can't aim properly to hit the enemy, Spider is too loud and alarms him, while Endie was more focused on scaring the enemy than hitting him, allowing him to react in time and attack him. When Red tries to escape, Herobrine teleports him straight onto Endie, causing him to be angry at Red and punch him, throwing him at Skellington, who then pushes Red onto Spider, causing all three to get angry at him. When it's Red's turn, Spider sabotages him to make trip, alarming the enemy, much to the class' amusement. All three students get a D- while Red gets an F.
In the following lessons, all three students do poorly, getting a C at absolute best - The only exception is Skellington in Cooking, getting an A+. All the while, Red is getting bullied and constantly gets an F.The final exam is the Team Race, where Endie, Skellington, Spider and Red are paired together as the Yellow Team. When the race starts, Red leaves his friends behind, sick of their bullying from the previous lessons. He instead climbs the school to get to the Nether portal he came from to find his friends. However, his teammates are sabotaged by the previous teams by getting run over, and then are severely beaten by the enemies Herobrine spawned to make the exam harder. Taking pity, Red saves his classmates. That said, they refuse to acknowledge it.
As the race continues, Red fixes Skellington and Endie's problems: Mainly, the former's poor aim (by revealing he is "backwards-handed" and thus needs to have his bow backwards to shoot correctly) and the latter's unwillingness to hurt people, trying to make himself look scary instead (by provoking him into trying to hit him, dodging well enough to make Endie hit the enemies instead).
The two refuse to acknowledge that Red did anything. Later on, the team is challenged with a large gap that they need to fly through; As the only team without someone with flying abilities, they all panic until Red throws Spider off the cliff. Endie is understandably angry at Red and almost throws him down too. That is until Spider, mid-air, uses his abilities to web-on to the Red Team (more specifically, Ghist the Ghast). Spider sends another web to his teammates, allowing them to catch it and swing. The team advances, defeating all the other teams thanks to Spider webbing onto whoever is flying.
When they finally reach the end of the gap, the monster trio start climbing the mountain where Herobrine awaits for the winner. Red, meanwhile, is caught by the other teams and is being brutally beaten by them. He commands his teammates to go on without him, and they do so until they hear that more monsters are beginning to beat him up. Skellington stops Witton, the Wither-Skeleton, from punching Red in the face, and the entire team comes to the rescue.
They effortlessly defeat the other monsters without Red's help until the only ones left are the Blue Team, consisting of Creep, Cavell (the Cave Spider), Blaise (the Blaze) and Silvester (the Silverfish). Spider webs on to Cavell and Endie throws Skellington into the air, where he reflects all of Blaise's bullets onto them, blowing up Creep and weakening the other monsters to the point they can't continue. Skellington taunts Blaise the same way he was taunted earlier in the Sneaking lesson, before Spider webs onto the top of the mountain.
Herobrine then awards the Yellow Team with a trophy. When he isn't looking, Endie teleports the entire team onto the school rooftop, where Spider webs onto the Nether portal. The entire team goes through it, where they confront King Orange. The three monsters help Red, his friend the Second Coming and a Warden fight him, trying to stop him from getting the staff he needs for his plan to fulfil. Eventually, Red puts a Netherite block onto the staff, giving it enough power to throw the King into the distance. The heroes celebrate their victory until King Orange appears behind them wielding two Minecraft Game Icons - Powerful weapons that make him even stronger than he already is.
"The Raid"[]
The heroes ready themselves to battle with King Orange. In response, he creates negative versions of the mobs that the stick figures befriended. The dark clones prove themselves to be as strong as the originals, but are eventually defeated by Red. During the fight that follows afterwards, Endie is pinned down by another clone of himself, and just as King Orange gets his staff back from Red, he's thrown into the air by a Titan Ravager - A humongous version of the normal Ravager that was befriended by Yellow and Blue, another set of stick figures. Endie, Skellington and Spider react in confusion and stare at each other after seeing the giant, but forget about it and continue fighting against King Orange and another set of Dark Mobs. When the king manages to finally get his hands on both the staff and the Game Icons, he distracts his enemies with negatives - Spider is last seen being cornered by dark versions of himself, the Warden and Endie, Skellington is last seen helping Blue attack a Dark Warden, while Endie is last seen being chocked by his evil version. The King then fuses the two Game Icons together into one, puts the new block on his staff, and creates a black hole.
"The King"[]
The newly-redeemed Purple smacks King Orange away and destroys the majority of the Dark Mobs, the remaining ones being finished off by the Warden and Titan Ravager. The king then tries to reach Purple to get his staff back; Endie manages to teleport him away when he's close, and Spider, with the help from Green and Red, manages to throw him to the ground, where the heroes together manage to pin him down. However, the king manages to get his hands on Yellow's command block-equipped staff, and both fights and defeats the heroes, eventually getting to Purple and taking his staff back. Using it, he creates a gigantic dark hybrid of the Warden and Titan Ravager before blowing the heroes into the air.
While Spider and Endie land pretty close to they were launched from, although dangerously close to the king and the Dark Mob, Skellington is sent flying into the air, where he's grabbed by Herobrine, who went to find his students. Despite being ordered to go home, Skellington refuses and claims he's not going to leave Endie and Spider. Realising that his students have been fighting someone and are in danger, Herobrine flies over to King Orange and begins fighting him, during which he reveals he's been hiding his true power. He teleports Endie and Spider to safety before launching his Steve clones to fight the king. However, he realises he can absorb mobs into his staff, and uses it to defeat not only the clones, but almost Herobrine himself; fortunately, at the last second, he manages to possess Red's body and craft a gigantic obsidian stick figure.
While Red/Herobrine is fighting a giant netherite sword, the Titan Ravager charges into battle, ridden by Yellow, Blue and Skellington. King Orange proceeds to slam the giant with his staff, launching the three into the air - Skellington right into the king's hand - and sucking the beast into his staff. He then does the same to Skellington, who keeps firing arrows at the king even in his last moments. Endie and Spider are shocked and devastated at their friend's death. Herobrine returns to battle the king, and although he still puts up a good fight, he's eventually absorbed into the staff. Immediately afterwards, Green and Spider attack King Orange, who knocks away the former and sucks the latter into his staff while he webs onto the roof of the Nether and clings on to dear life. The remaining heroes then proceed to fight the king by himself, during which Endie and the Warden are both sucked into the staff, the former while desperately trying to teleport away. With them gone, only the stick figures are left to battle the king.
However, while it takes him a while, they - more specifically the Second Coming - manage to save the day by going through a Nether portal, which glitches out while doing so. During it, the entirety of Minecraft, which was destroyed by King Orange's black hole, is recreated, with everyone being resurrected, including Endie, Skellington, Spider and Herobrine. King Orange then proceeds to apologize for his actions, as when the monsters were dead, he realised that he cared for Purple like a surrogate son after his biological one's death years ago. With everyone saying their goodbyes to each other before they part ways, Red gives his yellow headband to the Warden, with Endie, Skellington and Spider accepting him as a member of their team. Herobrine teleports all four of the monsters to the Monster School afterwards.
In the credits, it's shown that not only have Endie, Skellington and Spider been seemingly forgiven for the beat-up during the Team Race as they are still hanging out with all the students, but the Warden has become the popular guy of the class, with everyone cheering for him during the Sneaking lesson.
Actual Shorts[]
The trio is briefly referenced in the "Fireworks" episode, where three fireworks explode in the shapes of their faces, immediately after Herobrine.
They then make a proper appearance in "Rainstorm". After the day at school is over, all the students make their leave, with Skellington saying goodbye to Endie, who's sad he can't hang out with his friends because of the rain hurting him. Red - who is apparently regularly visiting the Monster School - comes over and gives him an umbrella, and the two go to Skellington and Spider. All four are excited that Endie can spend time with them, but him putting the umbrella up into the air causes thunder to strike and destroy it, thus causing the Enderman to take damage again.
Season 4[]
"Note Block Concert"[]
Endie, Skellington and Spider cameo in the episode alongside their classmates. When the Silverfish interrupting the concert calls friends for backup, their classmate Silvester - himself a Silverfish - accepts the call and digs into the ground to reach the stage, causing confusion in Endie and Skellington while Spider and the Warden remain unaware.
Appearances[]
As an Enderman, Endie is a tall, pitch black humanoid creature with purple eyes and particles floating around him. During the Team Race and Nether War, he wears a yellow bandana around his head. In the realistic poster, he's shown with what seems to be black fur and a goopy mouth.
Skellington is a completely normal skeleton with a simple bow. During the Team Race and Nether War, he wears a yellow bandana around his head. It's shown that, unlike most characters in the franchise, he can actually change his face expression: He visibly frowns after being taunted by Blaise and shows a happy expression in the realistic poster.
Spider is, like one would expect, a gigantic spider with six eyes. During the Team Race and Nether War, he wears a yellow bandana around his head that covers his top eyes, which results in him being wrongly presented with only four eyes. Unlike real life spiders, he has a bonus third body segment, and the realistic poster shows he has stars in his eyes.
Personalities[]
Originally, the trio was nothing but a group of sadistic, spiteful jerks who bullied Red and laughed as others bullied him for simply accidentally bumping into them, with Spider even being the one to start the bullying. Despite this, they showed to be friends with the other classmates and especially each other, with Endie and Skellington being shocked and angry at Red for throwing Spider off a cliff. They were also incredibly ungrateful, refusing to point out that Red was pretty much carrying them the entire Team Race and improved their skills. However, it's shown they also aren't bad people deep down and have standards, as when Red was being assaulted by the entire school, they realised enough is enough and saved him from the other students, Endie in particular carrying Red the entire time.
They are all also incredibly brave for mobs who, given how they go a school, are probably teens or younger, helping Red and his friends defeat the omnicidal King Orange and save the world, with Skellington refusing to back down when ordered by Herobrine, showing that he also has deep loyalty and a sense of honor. They are all also very quick to make friends, with Endie high-fiving the Warden and all three of them instantly accepting him as a classmate. They are also implied to be quick to forgive, as there seems to be no aggression or resentment between them and the other students after they returned from the Nether, with them all cheering for the Warden together despite the fact the other three teams brutally beat up Red earlier.
Endie is the most protective of the trio, constantly teleporting others away from danger, carrying Red in the final moments of the Team Race, and being so angry at Red for throwing Spider off a cliff that he almost pushed him down himself. He also likes to scare people to the point of sabotaging himself by screaming at instead of attacking the Steve clones. Before changing for the better, he showed to arguably be more cruel than Skellington or Spider by tricking Red into thinking he's gonna help, while he was actually just going to punch him into the air. Despite this, there are also some slight implications he warmed up to Red before the other two did, as he saved the stick numerous times while they were fighting the other teams for the first time, despite having the option to just let him fall into the lake below. He also hates being tickled, trying to punch Red for it but accidentally killing numerous Steve clones instead. He grew to care for Red deeply after making amends with him, being the first to apologize to Red by nodding to him after the other teams are defeated, throwing him into the air while celebrating their victory and teleporting to him when he was being assaulted by the Dark Negatives. Even outside of that, Endie in general is very quick to befriend others, even moreso than Skellington and Spider, as he befriended the Warden mere seconds after meeting him and saved the majority of his allies during the Nether fight at some point despite not knowing any of them. That said, he is also afraid of water for obvious reasons, and is sad about the fact it hurts him.
Skellington is shown to be bravest of the trio, as while he did panic when noticed by the Steve clone and put his hands over his head while grabbed by Herobrine, he doesn't let that fear stop him from trying to save the Nether and his friends from King Orange, outright refusing to escape from the war in favor of fighting alongside his friends. He also shows himself to be the most defiant by attacking King Orange even in his final moments while Spider and Endie tried to run away in theirs. Despite being a natural expert at numerous things - such as cooking and even shooting when he gets his bow right - he is also a bit dimwitted, as despite having problems with aim even before Red showed up, he never realised it's because he's "backwards-handed" and needed to have the bow backwards to use it correctly. While Endie might be most cruel, Skellington is arguably the pettiest of the trio, as he was the first one to mock Red's bad grade, "double-jumped" through jumping off Red and thus sending him plummeting while celebrating it, and even after changing for the better couldn't help but mock Blaise after defeating her in the Team Race the same way she mocked him beforehand. He was also quite insecure about his poor aim, as he was nervous about using his bow during the Team Race and was apparently talking about it with Zombee before Red showed up, with the undead shaking his head as to deny something Skellington said it. He's apparently the most aggressive of the three, as he started attacking his Dark version before the other mobs did, even the Warden, and attacked King Orange much more frequently than Endie or Spider. Skellington is also very hypocritical, as he bullied Red yet was upset when Blaise mocked him. Given how he is one of the only characters shown to be able to change their face expressions, yet did so only once, it's possible he isn't very emotional.
Spider is implied to be quieter and more introverted than his friends. He shows less body language then the other two, in his first appearance he was seen walking by himself and had to be approached by Cavell and Silvester (in comparison, Endie and Skellington were talking to other students), didn't properly introduce himself to the Warden and simply watched as his friends greet him, and while Endie and Skellington waved goodbye to Red before being teleported away, Spider didn't do such thing and simply walked towards Herobrine. It's implied he was scared of the Dark Mobs as it takes him a bit longer to attack his clone than with the other mobs, and is later backing away from dark versions of himself, Endie and the Warden. Despite this, he is quick to save his friends and seemingly even drag other people along with him if he needs to, as he instantly went to help Red when he was attacked by King Orange after entering the Nether, all while holding Skellington by his legs, implying he took him by surprise. He might also have a bit of an ego, as his original Monster School counterpart liked to show off his skills and during the Sneaking lesson, he stretched his arms and made preparations for a quite bad performance. It's shown that he cannot sneak at all, something that even Red wasn't able to fix and instead had to make him learn how to shoot webs. He also isn't very intelligent, as during the Team Race he stood in one place and alerted the Steve clones of his presence, causing his entire team to be attacked. Despite being the one to start Red's bullying, Spider is actually really quick to get over things: He decided to get his revenge on Red quickly and, besides being mildly annoyed at him and laughing at him, he pretty much forgot about him and moved on, in stark contrast to Endie and Skellington. Even after Red threw him off a cliff, Spider forgot about it almost immediately. He also seems to care for Herobrine, as he and Green attacked King Orange not even a full second after his temporary demise at the king's hands.

Trivia[]
- Endie, Skellington and Spider seem to be (or at least, have been) the worst students in class, as the highest grade they get is a C (besides Skellington's A+ at cooking).
- While their names are never said in-universe nor by series creator Alan Becker (with Endie and Skellington simply being called "the Enderman" and "the Skeleton"), it can be assumed these are their actual names given that they are adaptations of the Monster School characters of this name.
- In "Note Block Universe", none of the trio make an appearance in the episode. However, when all of Season 3 was released as one video with fixes to all episodes, Skellington was seen at the very end when Purple smacked King Orange, thus making him the only one of the trio to appear in the episode, although retroactively.
- While they are all based on the original Willcraft animations, it's worth to note there are several differences between these versions of Endie, Skellington and Spider and their original counterparts. More specifically, Endie is the most different while Skellington remains closest to canon, with Spider in the middle.
- In the original series, they are all nice guys, with Endie being the nicest character by far and Spider and Skellington giving gifts to orphans at one point. In this series, they all start out as bullying jerks, although not completely bad. Ironically, they ultimately prove to be better than the originals by committing truly heroic deeds to save the world.
- In the Willcraft animations, Endie is a kind pacifist with an artistic side who hates bullies and has an evil, murderous split personality that awakens whenever humans look in his eyes. In the Alan Becker animations, Endie himself is a bully who shows no signs of being dissociative or having any artistic talents. However, following his character development, he adopted the original Endie's hatred of bullies by protecting Red from the other students.
- The original Spider was a kind person that was best friends with Skellington and had an ego, liking to show off his spider abilities whenever he could. This version of Spider is instead a jerk that never showed off his skills because he originally lacked any. That said, his friendship with Skellington is retained and he eventually reforms into a kind person, although even after improvement he never becomes arrogant.
- Both the Willcraft and AvM versions of Skellington are gifted cooks who are best friends with Spider, but hilariously bad at arching. That said, the biggest difference is that one is kind while the other's a spiteful jerk (even if he became a better person), with the Alan Becker Skellington eventually becoming a master archer while the Willcraft Skellington remained bad at it.
- On the realistic Season 3 merchandise poster (see above), Spider has stars in his eyes while Endie seemingly has black fur, a goopy mouth and completely purple eyes. This was most likely because the creators of the poster had to change the designs of some of the characters for legal reasons. That said, Skellington remains unchanged, although with a happy expression on his face.
