Esenia Steklova is the protagonist of the Russian detective-psychological series The Method. The investigator, the daughter of Colonel Andrei Steklov. Rodion Meglin's partner.
She was played by Paulina Andreeva.
Biography[]
Season 1[]
Esenia was born into the family of senior adviser (Colonel) of Justice Andrei Steklov and his wife Vera. The heroine's mother died under mysterious circumstances when she was very young. Meglin figures out Vladimir killer right at the party. Next, Esenia becomes Meglin's partner, who began working with him also in order to find her mother's killer. They begin to find various serial killers together, whom Meglin most often killed during his detention, which initially confused Esenia. Over time, their relationship became very close, and Esenia herself had already gained experience from Meglin. Together they also defeat the dangerous serial killer Alexei Anufriev, who was specially freed by Esenia's father. In the end, Esenia finds out that Meglin killed her mother, but did it because she was a serial killer. Esenia barely finishes Meglin off in the bathroom, plunging a knife into his heart.
Season 2[]
It's been 6 years. Esenia married Yevgeny Osmyslovsky and they had a daughter. Esenia continues her work as an investigator, but she did not succeed very well, after which her father and Colonel Bykov reveal to her a secret: Meglin did not actually die, but went crazy. She also took revenge on Suvorova, who viciously killed her classmate Tikhonov. He is taken out and, despite his madness, he successfully helps Esenia stop various serial killers. But in the meantime, TMNP continued to hunt for them, and he even brainwashed Yevgeny into becoming a violent maniac. He also kills Esenia's father and frames Meglin for it. But later Esenia and Meglin manage to kill Yevgeny, but he did not turn out to be a TMNP. The real TMNP turned out to be psychologist Igor Samarin, who brainwashed the mentally ill and turned them into serial killers in order to take revenge on Meglin, whom he had held a grudge against since childhood. Samarin first frames Meglin and Esenia, and then kidnaps Esenia's child and forces her and Meglin to come to the same place. There he forces them to fight to the death. And Meglin fakes Esenia's murder, after which they take Samarin by surprise and kill him, saving Esenia's child. After that, Esenia and Meglin stayed together.
Season 3[]
Esenia will not appear in season 3 for unknown reasons, so it is possible that she died between season 2 and 3.
Trivia[]
- For Paulina Andreeva, the image of Esenia Steklova became the second main role in her career after the thriller "Locust" and brought recognition from the audience.
- In preparation for the role, Andreeva reviewed all seasons of the TV series "True Detective", and also received training from a shooting instructor. Moreover, the cast had to familiarize themselves with documentary photos and videos about maniacs.
- In season 2, Pauline had to work with a real corpse and morgue staff, which she refused for a long time. In addition, some scenes were filmed at the cemetery, where the real funeral procession was taking place.
