Ethari

Ethari is a supporting protagonist in the Netflix TV Show The Dragon Prince and the tritagonist of the Bloodmoon Huntress graphic novel. He is the husband of Runaan and a great friend and father figure to Rayla, he's also a craftsman who helps the people of the people of his village, including Runaan in his missions as an assassin.

He is voiced by Vincent Gale.

Biography[]

Ethari met an elf and assassin named Ethari and they got married. One day, his friends, Lain and Tiadrin, gave them their child Rayla since they had to go to the Storm Spire to protect the egg of the Dragon Prince. Ethari tried to help Rayla through being nice and playful towards her, but Rayla was more focused on finding out what was Runaan's work.

Ethari tried to convince Rayla that it wasn't important for her to know about that and tried to keep her mind out of it, but he failed and after finding out that Runaan was an assassin, Rayla would have argumentd about his work and how he kills people and calls it unecessary.

The next day, Runaan brought healthy food while Rayla brought sweet food, and Runaan tired to use that health was more important than taste to prove that his work as an assassin was necessary, after they start having an argument, Runaan told them to stop and that they could get both.

Ethari would be seen again with Rayla, asking how he could tolerate his husband being an assassin, with Ethari replying that he couldn't do the things he does and that sometimes it's necessary for people to be stopped so they won't commit more evil and to protect others, and that he still loves Runaan very much regardless of what he does.

After Rayla found out that an elf named Suroh had his family hostage at the hands of an elf that looked similar to the tales of the Bloodmoon Huntress, she tried to convince Ethari and Runaan save his family, but they didn't believe her as they thought she was joking.

After risking her life and nearly getting killed by Kim'dael, Runaan and Ethari save her life and decide to help her in save Suroh, and during Runaan's fight with Kim'dael, Ethari saved the former's life by shooting her in the shoulder with an arrow, causing her to leave and tell them that she would kill them if she ever saw them again.

The next mourning, Rayla would look at the sunrise alongside Runaan and Ethari, understanding now that the work of an assassin is important to protect people and that she was ready to train with Runaan. For the next years, Rayla would train with Runaan to become an assassin.

After Avizandum was killed and the Dragon Prince's egg was presumably destroyed, Zubeia hired Runaan, Rayla, and several Moonshadow assassins to kill King Harrow and his son Ezran, Ethari made the assassins flowers and out them in a fountain that were made to represent that they were still alive when the flowers hadn't sinked.

After the death of King Harrow, all of the flowers of the assassins sunk with the exception of Rayla. Understanding this, Ethari reluctantly made Rayla a ghost to make her invisible in the eyes of the rest of her village. Rayla would then go back to her home with Callum during their quest to bring Azymondias back to his mother, with Rayla understanding that she became a ghost, she would go to Ethari's house to talk to him, believing that he hadn't made her a ghost as well.

After seeing that Ethari also did it, Ethari would notice Rayla through the reflection of a weapon he was crafting, and told her that even though he knows he didn't cause the "deaths" of her friends out of mallice, it was still her fault. When Rayla was throwing rocks at the fountain where her flower was, Ethari found her and briefly broke the spell to talk to Rayla.

After seeing that Rayla was okay and met Callum, Ethari sees Azymondias still alive and that there was still a chance of peace, so he gives them two steeds so they could travel to the Storm Spire, and tries to send a message to Zubeia about Azymondias still being alive, although Nyx steals to try to manipulate Callum and Rayla into giving Azymondias to her so she could get rewarded for delievering Azymondias to his mother, although she fails.
