Ethel Edethal is a supporting character from the 2024 animated feature film The Garfield Movie, a film adaptation of Jim Davis' comic strip Garfield. She is the girlfriend of Otto Edethal.
She is voiced by Alicia Grace Turrell in her first heroic role.
Biography[]
Past[]
Ethel is the famous cow of Lactose Farms. She was in a relationship with a famous bull named Otto. When someone took over the farm, Otto has been kicked out and been separated from Ethel. Since then, he's been watching the farm and seeing Ethel from a distance.
The Garfield Movie[]
One day, Otto was approached by Garfield, his father, Vic, and best friend, Odie, all of whom wanted his help to break into Lactose Farms and steal a large quantity of the farm's milk for a vengeful cat, Jinx. He disagrees at first. He tells them of his backstory. After hearing how tough Otto's life have been, the trio agrees to break Ethel out if he helps them on their mission.
After a day of planning and preparation of the heist, Garfield, Vic, and Odie successfully infiltrate the farm while Otto stays outside to make sure the mission goes as planned. When the trio reached the loading dock to get the keys to free Ethel, they were caught by Marge Malone, animal control officer and Otto's arch-nemesis. She has already got the keys after getting a tip from Jinx about their plan through animal translator. Seeing that the mission has gone wrong, Otto tries to distract security to give them time to escape and he briefly reunites with Ethel, but the security guards start beating him up and Otto was able to get away.
Following Jinx's defeat, Garfield, Vic, Odie, Otto, and Jinx's former henchmen, Nolan and Roland, return to the farm by the milk truck and bring in Jinx to Marge in exchange for Ethel's release, finally reuniting her with Otto.
Ethel and Otto later attends Garfield's birthday party at his house with the couple dancing.
Physical appearance[]
Ethel is a white cow with pink splotches. She has a pair of white horns on her head, a cowbell hanging around her neck, blond hair and a pair of blue eyes.
