Eytukan is a major character in the 2009 sci-fi film Avatar and a posthumous character in the 2022 sequel Avatar: The Way of Water.
He was the Olo'eyktan of the Omatikaya clan, Mo'at's mate, Neytiri's and Sylwanin's father, and the maternal grandfather of Neteyam, Lo'ak and Tuktirey, and the adoptive grandfather of Kiri and Miles "Spider" Socorro.
History[]
Background[]
During the 2140s, Eytukan opposes Grace's idea of opening a school for the Na'vi, but Mo'at says the children should decide. However, the children fall ill because of the RDA'scontamination of the water. They were cured because of Mo'at and Grace's efforts, and Eytukan reluctantly allows the school to open.
After the death of Eytukan's daughter Sylwanin, relationships between the Na'vi and the humans. Mo'at and Eytukan ban the Sky People from the clan.
Avatar[]
Reluctantly, Eytukan allows Jake to stay and initiates him into the clan when Jake passes the tests. He also allows Grace back into the clan.
During the battle of the Tree of Souls, Eytukan is fatally wounded when a splinter of the Hometree flying off. He gave his ceremonial bow to his grieving daughter, Neytiri, and told her to protect the people.
He was succeeded as Olo'eyktan by Tsu'tey and eventually by Jake after Tsu'tey was killed in battle a few days later.
Legacy[]
His bow would continue to be used by Neytiri for fifteen years until it broke while she was trying to save her daughters.
Avatar: The Way of Water[]
Neytiri was forced to leave her home and break her promise to her father by going into hiding with the rest of her family when the RDA returned. However, Neytiri was against leaving because of the promise she made to her father.

- Skilled leader: Eytukan is a skilled leader, and he was well-respected, including his son-in- law, Jake Sully and Tsu'tey. He cares greatly for the welfare of his people.
- Skilled Archer: Eytukan is skilled with bow and arrows, which he used to defend the Hometree from the RDA, along with the Omatikaya warriors.
Trivia[]
- In the original script, Eytukan's name was Mato'a Te Kaha Nahgoitewa
- He did not speak English throughout the entire film.
