“ | Are you the new hero? I am Fado of the Kokiri tribe. I know I appear to you as a child, but the eyes can oft deceive. I am a most esteemed sage. | „ |
~ Fado |
Fado is a minor yet significant character who appeared in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. He is the only known Kokiri in the game, as the rest of his kind evolved into the Koroks once they went overseas to settle in a new home. He was a sage who prayed in the Wind Temple to maintain the Master Sword's power to repel evil.
History[]
Fado was the Sage of Wind who offered his prayers to help keep the Master Sword's power at full strength. However, when Ganondorf breaks free from a hundred-year imprisonment, he sent two monsters to the two temples. One of them, Molgera in particular succeeded in killing Fado. Since then, his ghost was stuck inside the Wind Temple until a successor can be found.
When Link learns the Wind God's Aria, Fado appears to him and explains his situation and provides a hint to him about the next sage in line, the one who carries the same instrument as him. When Link leaves the temple, he heads to Forest Haven's hidden area behind the waterfall where he finds the person Fado was inquiring of: Makar. After Link conducts the Wind God's Aria, Makar falls into a trance where Fado teaches him how to play it. Makar realizes his destiny in asks Link to take him to the Wind Temple.
Fado appears for the last time after his killer, Molgera was vanquished for good, where he plays his violin alongside Makar which restores the Master Sword completely, and he is able to leave the Wind Temple, able to rest in peace.
