Fang the Hunter, alternatively known as Fang the Sniper, Nack the Weasel, or Jet the Jerboa, is a supporting antagonist in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. He is a purple anthropomorphic jerboa that is a bounty hunter and treasure hunter who sought the Chaos Emeralds.
Although he is depicted as a villain through most of the series, in Sonic the Fighters (also known as Sonic Championship) he is a hero who tries to stop Dr. Eggman and Metal Sonic from unleashing the Death Egg II.
Sonic the Fighters[]
He joined the fighting tournament held to decide which one among the Chaos Emerald guardians was the strongest and will save the world. He is the sixth combatant in story mode and is in possession of the magenta Chaos Emerald and is fought in Casino Night. He uses his pop gun to fire at opponents and his tail to whack them. If Fang could defeat all the contestants, he would earn the right to use all the Chaos Emeralds for Tails's single-seat Lunar Fox and travel to the Death Egg II and destroy it. At the end of the tournament, the victor used the Chaos Emeralds to go to the Death Egg II and made it self-destruct moments after escaping it.

Fang the Sniper, alongside Bean the Dynamite and Bark the Polar Bear, appear together working as a team hired by Dr. Eggman to retrieve the Chaos Emeralds. They encounter Sonic and company after locating the yellow emerald in Summer Falls Zone and Fang orders Bean and Bark to keep them busy while he attempts to take the gem. However, Tails was able to stop Fang by sabotaging his beloved Marvellous Queen before grabbing the emerald himself, prompting Fang to fire at the fox with his popgun.
Their fight over the emerald continued until it fell down a waterfall. But rather than looking for the gem, Fang decides to retrieve it later while his team seek out another Chaos Emerald at Autumn Forest Zone. They once again get into scuffle upon finding it with Mighty, Ray, and Amy Rose when Metal Knuckles suddenly appears to take obtain the emerald. Fang believed Dr. Eggman was trying to double-cross him out of their deal and chased after the robot with the others until they run into the doctor himself and force him to explain what is really going on.
They learn that Heavy King had taken control of Eggman's robots and plans to use the Chaos Emeralds to conquer the world. In a attempt to stop him, Dr. Eggman hired Fang, Bean, and Bark to help him collect the emeralds before Heavy King does. Fang asks Eggman how he planned to pay them if he was on his own, prompting the doctor to assure him that he will reward them once he is back in command of his forces. Now possessing a mutual enemy, Fang agrees to work with Sonic and his allies to defeat Heavy King at Winter Caverns Zone.
The heroes race through the area, freeing Metal Sonic and Metal Knuckles from Heavy King's control, before entering Eggman's final base. Once inside, they immediately face resistance from Heavy King as he launches a powerful energy attack using the power of the seven Chaos Emeralds. Fang retreats outside to start up the Marvellous Queen before racing back in on the vehicle to spring an attack of his own. He fired both passenger cars and a barrage of projectiles at Heavy King, but the robot easily deflected his attacks and struck him down before letting loose more energy strikes on all the heroes. However, the group soon manage to defeat Heavy King after Sonic distracts him long enough to take away the Chaos Emeralds enhancing his power. Fang decides to keep the emerald he took as payment of his services, believing Eggman would not honor his part of the deal, and rides off on his Marvellous Queen with Bean and Bark in search for a mechanic to repair his vehicle.
