Agent Farid (Arabic فريد Fãrēd; 5/2/1997 - 18/6/2025) is a major character in Call of Duty: Black Ops II.
Farid is a Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) agent and Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) technician who helps the United States Navy SEALs stop Raul Menendez, and is a mole of Cordis Die. Farid is given one of the most important choices in the game; having to either kill Harper or attempt to kill Menendez. This choice determines if the world is saved from Cordis Die by Karma, or if Menendez's virus corrupts the systems and Cordis Die strikes America.
He is voiced by Omid Abtahi, who also voiced Faris D'jinn in DuckTales.
Biography[]
Background[]
Farid was born on 5th February, 1997, in Yemen, and joined the CIA and later JSOC as a technician. By the 2020s, Farid was a spy for the CIA on Cordis Die, keeping an eye and getting information on Raul Menendez, who was rising to power and wanted to destroy the west. However, Menendez knew that Farid was a mole, possibly by deduction, or by Salazar informing him of Farid being a spy. Farid had a close bond to Mike Harper, who refers to him as "Egghead" in the missions he is seen/voiced in.
Black Ops II[]
Farid first appears in "Fallen Angel", and speaks with Section, Harper, Salazar, and Admiral Briggs on DeFalco. Farid shows them a video of DeFalco torturing someone with his shotgun, and tells them that empathy is understood by DeFalco, but is irrelevant. After Mason's team gather intel on the cyberweapon "Karma", Farid guides them on finding it at Colossus, a giant city.
Farid supports them by hacking into areas and giving them directions on finding the Central Records Computer to locate "Karma", and the group learn that "Karma" a woman, named Chloe Lynch. Farid gives the group more support on attempting to stop DeFalco from capturing Chloe, with the group either succeeding and killing DeFalco, or fail and they escape, and a SEAL team saves her in "Second Chance".
In "Achilles Veil", Farid is contacted by Harper on keeping an eye on Menendez, but Raul tells Farid that their is a traitor in their ranks. Once the Yemen Army and Cordis start fighting, Menendez orders Farid to meet him at the citadel, and Farid is forced to fight both sides to keep his cover. During the battle, Farid tells Harper that he believes that Menendez knows that he is a spy, but Harper thinks that it's impossible, and tells him to continue on to the citadel.
Halfway at the citadel, Farid meets up with Menendez, who shoots down Harper's VTOL, and has him captured to tell who is the spy. Menendez orders Farid to show his loyalty by killing Harper, who screams that Farid to kill him, and refers to him as Egghead. Depending on the player's choice, Farid or Harper will be killed, and Section and Salazar arrive to capture Menendez.
Fate[]
If Farid chooses to kill Menendez, then Menendez quickly shoots him with his revolver, and tells him that his life means nothing to those he serves, before shooting him in the head. However, if Farid chooses to kill Harper, Farid will shoot him in the head, and Farid's cover is safe, though he is shaken afterwards for having to do so, and is taken to safety by Salazar.
regardless, Menendez is captured by Section and taken to the USS Obama to be interrogated, but Cordis Die assault the ship, and Menendez escapes after secretly being aided by Salazar. Menendez and DeFalco (or a random Merc if he's dead) head to the bridge and confront Admiral Briggs, who was rebooting the system.
Menendez and his companion take Briggs and his tech expert hostage - if Farid and Chloe are alive, then they are also present. Salazar then shows his true allegiances by fatally shooting the remaining two sailors in the room. The outcome of the stand-off can played out in six different ways, depending whether Harper or Farid had died in the previous mission, and depending on Chloe's fate.
- Farid died
- Chloe captured: Nothing else will happen.
- Chloe saved by SEALs: DeFalco slices Chloe's throat.
- Chloe saved by Section: Salazar shoots Chloe in the head.
- Farid killed Harper
- Chloe captured: DeFalco and Farid fatally shoot each other at the same time.
- Chloe saved by SEALs: DeFalco pistol-whips Chloe, knocking her out. Farid then shoots DeFalco in the head, but Salazar shoots Farid in the back of the head.
- Chloe saved by Section: Salazar shoots Chloe to kill her, but Farid dies jumps in front of her, taking the bullet. Chloe goes to tackle Salazar, but he pistol-whips her, knocking her out.
Despite Farid's death, Section later confronts Menendez in Haiti, where he is killed or imprisoned. If Chloe lives to the end, Farid's death is not in vain, as she saves the USS Obama from destruction. If captured, Menendez is imprisoned forever and lives with failing to destroy the west. If killed, his death inspires Cordis Die supporters to riot all over the world and attack the White House.

Trivia[]
- If he refused to kill Harper, Farid was killed at age 28 on Socotra Island, Yemen. If Farid did kill Harper, then he was killed later that day by Salazar or DeFalco on the Obama, floating over the Gulf of Mexico.
- Being 28, Farid is the youngest playable character in BO2, followed by Chloe (31 in "Second Chance"), Section (45-46 in main story present), Mason (53 in main story past), and Woods (59 in "Suffer With Me").
- However, Menendez is both technically the oldest and youngest playable character, being 61 ("Odysseus") and 23 ("Time and Fate").
- He is similar to Joseph Allen from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
- Both are CIA agents going undercover for a villainous organisation.
- Both are killed by the main antagonist; Allen is killed by Makarov, while Farid can be killed by Menendez.
- He is similar to Jason Hudson.
- Both are an agent of the CIA.
- Both are a lethal and extremely dangerous one-man army.
- Hudson sacrifices his life for Woods and Section, while Farid sacrifices his life for Harper or Chloe.
- If Farid sacrifices his life for Harper, then Hudson and Farid will have both been killed by Menendez.
- Almost all his potential deaths involve sacrificing himself. The only exception is the "Odysseus" outcome where he'd previously killed Harper and Karma is kidnapped; Farid and DeFalco simply kill each other.
- One outcome has Farid shoot DeFalco in the head to stop him from shooting Chloe, before Salazar shoots Farid in the back of the head.
- Another outcome has Salazar shoot at Chloe, when Farid jumps in front of her and takes the bullet and dies, before Salazar knocks Chloe out.
- There are three outcomes where Farid refuses to kill Harper for Menendez, though Farid will then no longer be around to save Chloe if she'd been rescued.
