Live well, age well, and go bald well. And die after me. And... if you can, die smiling. If I can't, I won't be able to face Masaki. Don't hesitate to act. Sadness is a cool thing to shoulder, but you're still too young.
~ Isshin Kurosaki
GOOOOOOOOOOD MORNIIIIIIIIIIING, ICHIGOOOOO!!!!
~ Isshin when attacking Ichigo in the morning.

Isshin Kurosaki is a supporting character from the manga/anime series Bleach. He is the husband of the late Masaki Kurosaki, and the father of Ichigo Kurosaki, Karin Kurosaki, and Yuzu Kurosaki, who works at the Kurosaki Clinic as a doctor. Prior to this, he was a Shinigami that served as Captain of the 10th Division. In the human world, Having since regaining his Shinigami powers, he was able to avenge his wife by killing Grand Fisher with the help of Kon and later trained Ichigo in using the ultimate Bankai (Final Release) of the spirit sword Zangetsu. Two years later after Ichigo found out he was part Quincy, Isshin finally revealed the truth of his origin to Ichigo including how he and Masaki first met and confirming to Ichigo that it the real cause behind Masaki's death was Yhwach who had wanted to eliminate all Quinces he felt were impure.

He is voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa in the Japanese version of the anime and by Patrick Seitz in the English version, and he was portrayed by Yōsuke Eguchi in the 2018 live-action film, who also played Hajime Saitō in the Rurouni Kenshin live-action series.

About[]

Isshin Shiba came from Shiba Clan in Soul Society the members include former head Kaien Shiba who resembled his son.

Appearance[]

Isshin is a tall, muscular man with short, spiky black hair, light facial hair, and brown eyes.

When he was the captain of the 10th Division, he wore the standard Shinigami uniform with a sleeveless captain's haori. In addition, he had no facial hair and his hair was slightly shorter.

As a doctor, he wears a standard white medical coat. And as a Shinigami, he wears the standard Shihakushō, along with a tattered captain's haori, worn like a sash and fastened on his left shoulder with the Division's insignia covered.

Personality[]

Typically, Isshin behaves in a very energetic, goofy and eccentric manner, "training" his son, Ichigo, every day by attacking him for any reason, such as being late for dinner or simply to wake him up.

When he served in the Gotei 13 as a captain, he was shown to be really lazy and carefree in his work, always counting on his subordinates, primarily Rangiku Matsumoto and Tōshirō Hitsugaya, to do the paperwork for him, which resulted in Isshin having a rather strained relationship with the first one.

Trivia[]

  • Before the series started, Tite Kubo was going to portray Isshin as a mortician, resulting in a character he feels looks better in black.
