Tsukikage Ran is one of the two main characters of the short anime series Carried by the Wind: Tsukikage Ran. She is a ronin (a masterless samurai) known for her superior katana skills and love of sake (rice wine). She wanders across Japan "wherever the wind takes her" with her friend Lady Meow of the Iron Cat Fist, facing some kind of wrongdoings in various towns and ending up solving them out.
Ran is a laid-back drifter who mostly gives an apathetic impression with the way she often seems unconcerned about people's problems. Her main concerns are mainly to have her peace, sake at hand and money to buy sake (with Meow providing said money). However, she is a just person who becomes involved when people are too deep in trouble to help themselves out. She's known to say "utterly inexcusable" whenever she becomes annoyed and is being broke.
She was voiced by Reiko Yasuhara in the Japanese version, and by Mona Marshall in the English version.
