Hayate is a ninja who transforms into Henshin Ninja Arashi and the eponymous main protagonist of the 1972 Tokusatsu show Henshin Ninja Arashi.
He was portrayed by Tatsuya Nanjo.
Biography[]
Hayate was the son of Kiju of the Valley, a member of the Blood Wheel Clan who invented a ninja art that allowed them to assume superpowered forms by undergoing a special process, turning them into "Henshin Ninja". Many members of the Blood Wheel Clan underwent the process to become Henshin Ninjas, leading their Clan's influence to spread all across Japan However, when the Blood Wheel Clan began using the Henshin Ninja art to terrorize villages and for other evil purposes, Kiju turned against the Blood Wheel Clan. Hayate requested that Kiju turn him into a Henshin Ninja so he could defend people from the Blood Wheen Clan and despite some reluctance his father agreed, giving Hayate the power to transform into Henshin Ninja Arashi.
However, after Hayate fought off an attack by the Henshin Ninja Poison Moray Eel, the Blood Wheel Clan realized Kiju of the Valley was creating new Henshin Ninjas without their approval and went to execute him for his treachery. Gaikotsumaru ambushed Kiju just as he was about to burn the Henshin Ninja scroll to prevent the Blood Wheel Clan from getting their hands on it and stole it instead. After Kiju refused Devil Sai's offer to serve as his right-hand man in the Blood Wheel Clan, Gaikotsumaru fought and fatally wounded Kiju, leaving him to be found by Hayate and the Iga ninja family. After telling Hayate that Devil Sai had stolen the scroll, Kiju passed away, leading Hayate to swear vengeance upon the Blood Wheel Clan and embark on a crusade to end their reign of terror.
