Nelson Mandela Muntz is a major character in the animated television series The Simpsons and a supporting anti-hero in its feature film adaptation The Simpsons Movie.
He is the primary bully at Springfield Elementary School and is friends with fellow bullies Jimbo Jones, Kearney Zzyzwicz, and Dolph Starbeam. Nelson usually picks on those he perceives as being weaker than he is, such as Bart Simpson and Milhouse van Houten. However, he isn't entirely bad and only acts out because of insecurity about his domestic situation and his mother's occupation as a waitress at Hooters.
He is voiced by Nancy Cartwright, who also voices his friendly rival Bart Simpson in the same show.
Personality[]
Although Nelson seems like a simple-minded brute who serves as nothing but a bully to antagonize others, he's not always emotionally tough. Indeed, Nelson is rather very insecure about his home life and is frequently ashamed whenever he mentions that his mother works at Hooter's. He's also patriotic, as he once wrote an essay against the evils of flag burning.
