~ Musashi
I, Musashi, am right here! Do not worry.
~ Musashi
For I, Musashi, managed to block the attacks on everybody else... Well... I'm... satisfied...
~ Musashi

Musashi (武蔵) is the major protagonist from Kantai Collection who was implemented into the game on the 1st of November, 2013 as the E-5 clear reward of the Fall 2013 Event. She is a Battleship sailor of the navy who can punch enemies easily thanks to her superhuman strength.

She is a personified version of the namesake battleship of the Imperial Japanese Navy.

She is voiced by Misato.

Biography[]

Musashi, named after the ancient Japanese Musashi Province, was one of two Yamato-class battleships built for the Imperial Japanese Navy, beginning in the late 1930s. The Yamato class was the heaviest and most powerfully armed class of battleships ever constructed, displacing 72,800 long tons (74,000 t) fully loaded and armed with nine 460 mm (18.1 in) main guns. Her secondary armament consisted of four 155 mm (6.1 in) triple-gun turrets formerly used by the Mogami-class cruisers. She was equipped with six or seven floatplanes to conduct reconnaissance.

Commissioned in mid-1942, Musashi was modified to serve as the flagship of the Combined Fleet and spent the rest of the year working up. She was transferred to Truk Atoll in early 1943 and sortied several times that year with the fleet in unsuccessful searches for the American forces. She was used to transfer forces and equipment between Japan and various occupied islands several times in 1944. Musashi was torpedoed in early 1944 by an American submarine and forced to return to Japan for repairs where the navy greatly augmented her anti-aircraft armament. Musashi was present during the Battle of the Philippine Sea in June, but did not come in contact with American forces. Musashi was sunk by an estimated nineteen torpedo and seventeen bomb hits from American carrier-based aircraft on October 24, 1944 during the Battle of Leyte Gulf. Over half of her crew were rescued.

Appearance[]

Musashi is depicted as a tall young woman with dark skin and short pale blonde/light brown hair in several short twintails. She wears glasses and a budget sarashi.

Personality[]

Musashi is boastful and battle-hungry woman, contrasting with her more reserved sister Yamato.

Her looks and personality stem from how the actual battleship saw much more battle than its sister, with its sinking only coming after an incredible amount of punishment.

Despite her hunger for battle, she deeply cares very much for her fellow comrades and would rather be sunk defending others than letting them be killed.
