"I can explain!"

After being abandoned by the army, Mulan is wrapped around in a blanket by Khan to keep herself warm.

"Maybe I didn't go for my father. Maybe what I really wanted was to prove I could do things right."
"So when I looked into the mirror, I'd see someone worth while."
"But I was wrong!"
"I see nothing!"
Mulan sad over running away from home and blames herself for being disgrace to her family and the army.
A saddened Mulan not moved by Mushu's attempts to cheer her up.
Mulan hearing Mushu confess her ancestors never sent him to help her and that he came on his own accord to help her so he can become one of her family's guardians again.
Instead of being angry at Mushu for lying to her, Mulan warmly forgives him, knowing he wanted to prove himself just like how she wanted to prove herself.

As Shang fights Shan Yu, Mulan orders Chien-Po to get the Emperor to safety.
Before she can escape from the palace, Mulan witnesses Shang continuing to fight Shan Yu.
Mulan cringing when she sees Shang getting knocked out by Shan Yu.
With Shang defeated, Mulan realizes if she were to escape, Shan Yu would follow her and go after the Emperor again.
