Pina in Anime
Pina is Silica's pet feathery dragon in Sword Art Online. It died but was later revived by Silica with the help of Kirito. Pina is voiced by Shiori Izawa in Japanese Dub, and Cassandra Lee Morris in English Dub.
Appearance[]
Pina is a Feathery Dragon with its blue body covered in soft, pale blue feathers and two long feathers instead of a tail.
Background[]
In Sword Art Online, after Silica fed the feathered little dragon npc with peanuts, she named the dragon from her real life pet cat, Pina. After Silica's brief arguements with Rosaria, The Titan's Hand Guild Leader, she left the party without any recovery items. As Kirito, Silica, and Pina wanders around the Forest of Wandering in the 35th floor of SAO, they were both under attacked by the Drunk Apes. Pina took the Ape's deadly strike that meant for Silica and dies. Kirito and Silica have to go into the Hill of Memories in the 47th Floor of Aincrad to obtain the Pneuma Flower. After obtaining Pneuma Flower and returning to the town safely, they succeeded to bring back Pina becoming Silica's loyal companion once again. Pina returns in Fairy Dance Arc at Alfheim Online after being absent two arcs later, and It's data is converted from SAO. Pina and Silica joins the party to obtain the legendary Holy Sword Excalibur.
Abilities[]
Pina is shown to be capable of healing small amount of health, although there's a limit to this.
Pina is shown to possess a greater amount of knowledge and self-awareness than other tamed familiars which allows it to think for itself at times (Yui said that Pina possesses a complex mind structure).
Pina can give increased jumping capabilities to Silica by gliding momentarily in the air.
Pina can do a special attack by shooting bubbles which paralyze opponents.

- Pina is named after Keiko's (Silica) cat (Munchkin) in the real world.
- Keiko's cat, Pina, has never made an appearance in the Anime or Light Novel, and Reki has yet to describe its appearance. However, Pina does make an appearance in both The Final Promise, and Girls Ops mangas. However, in both mediums, Pina takes on a different appearance, likely due to the interpretation of different artists.
