Seras Victoria is one of the main protagonists in the Hellsing series. Seras is a young police officer who was turned into a vampire by Alucard to save her from a would-be fatal gunshot wound in the chest, that he also caused.
After turning into Alucard's fledgling vampire, Seras becomes a member of the Hellsing Organization and helps them protecting England from evil vampires. She is very loyal to her master and to Integra Hellsing, the leader of Hellsing. Despite being a vampire, she keeps her humanity, being innocent, kind-hearted and reluctant to drink blood. Seras only gives in to her desire of consuming blood when seeking revenge for the death of the man she loves, Captain Pip Bernadotte, who is brutally murdered while saving her from Zorin Blitz. By drinking Pip's blood, Seras absorbs his soul (turning him into her familiar) and finally becomes a true vampire.
She is voiced by Fumiko Orikasa in the Japanese version of the anime, and by Katherine T. Gray in the English version of the anime.
Appearance[]
Seras is a young woman with short, somewhat messy blond hair and blue eyes, which turn red when she becomes enraged and permanently when she becomes a full fledged vampire. Her figure is well developed, especially her large breasts. She usually wears a tight yellow Hellsing uniform with a short skirt, long white stockings, and tall brown boots (the uniform turned red due to the amount of blood absorbed into her body during the events of OVA 7). In the original anime series, Seras wears a tight blue Hellsing uniform with a short skirt, long black stockings, and tall black boots.
Personality[]
Seras is a strong-willed and optimistic woman, and apparently had always been since childhood which is confirmed through her flashbacks. Seras is often considered a tomboy; a very brave, good-natured and heroic young woman who often defies orders of her master that cross with her personal beliefs. Her devotion to morals and integrity is still intact, in spite of her dark past. Likewise, she is a loyal and trustworthy soldier who will diligently follow the orders of her commander, provided said commander has proven his or her worth. Her level of maturity in comparison to the other characters is somewhat questionable; she seems to be the child the others could not be, yet possessing a sort of worldly maturity and superficial intelligence that most other characters lack, as well as a sort of 'nature winning against nurture' mentality, as opposed to most other characters.
Biography[]
Background[]
As a child, Seras initially lived with her parents, with her father working as a police officer. Tragedy stroke her home after her father got into an undercover investigation, which resulted in two bandits tracing him back to his home. To protect Seras, her mother hid her inside a closet and told her to stay there no matter what. After hearing gunshots, Seras comes out of the closet and, to her horror, she sees the bandits next to the dead bodies of both her parents. Distraught, Seras grabs a fork and stabs one of the bandits in the eye, but the other shots her in the gut, sending her flying back against the closet. To make everything worse, while Seras is motionless on the ground and bleeding because of the gut wound, she witnesses one of the bandits raping the corpse of her mother.
After losing her parents, young Seras was taken in by an orphanage. There, she often caused trouble, not getting along with other children or the teachers. One day, she even hit another child with a rock for taking one of her toys. The responsibles for the place blamed Seras' recurrent violent behavior on her trauma but stated that they wouldn't be able to continue to take care of her if she kept acting like that. At some point during her stay in the orphanage, a young Seras expressed her desire to become a police officer like her late father and was questioned if she couldn't think about another path for herself, but Seras was resolute in her decision.
Hellsing[]
Around the age of 19, Seras Victoria is a young underestimated British police officer. One day, unaware of the situation they are headlining into, she along with a police team confront a vampire priest that had taken control of the village. Within moments of her team entering the village, they are all wiped out. When she is the sole survivor of the attack, the priest teases her, threatening to rape her and then turn her into a ghoul. Just then, a figure dressed in red appears and the priest takes her as a human shield. The man in red asks her if she is a virgin. After saying yes, the man opens fire and blows a hole in her chest and then kills the vampire behind her with one hand. The man in red is Alucard, the vampire of the Hellsing Organization (which is currently led by Integra Hellsing). Alucards asks if she would like to live on as a vampire. A dying Seras reaches out crying, so he bites her and, with her virgin blood, she is turned into a vampire.
Upon becoming a vampire, she is immediately employed by the Hellsing Organization as Alucard's aid. She is never far from her master and even with offerings of blood she refuses to drink but Alucard shows her that she has changed as they hunt a young vampire couple, showing her that she can see further and night is like day to her eyes. Soon after this, they are sent to where Alucard shows her to kill without mercy, even if it is against ghouls, and she can slowly feel herself slipping further into Alucard's world. Then, it all changes as Alexander Anderson, a member of the Iscariot Organization, appears. He stabs Seras in the chest and leaves her at the mercy of his blessed blades. She screams out as Alucard loses his head in the battle against Anderson. As Anderson stands over her about to give the last blow, Integra Hellsing prevents her death and Alucard begins to heal in retreat. Alucard calls her "police girl" from that moment on, thinking her weak for not drinking his blood when he fell.
On their return to the Hellsing Manor, Walter C. Dornez presents her with a large anti tank rifle that her new found powers allow her to pick up with ease and Alucard is presented with the jackal a large pistol that only a vampire could carry. Shortly after, the Hellsing Manor is attacked by the Valentine brothers and Seras is ordered to protect Integra. With her new weapon in hand, she stands shooting the ghouls as they charge the meeting room where Integra is with the ministers of defense. As Walter faces off against Jan and Alucard faces Luke, she protects Integra until the threat is over.
Now that Hellsing lost most of their defense, Integra hired a group of mercenaries called the Wild Geese, lead by Pip Bernadotte, a French eyed man with a brave heart and a quick wit. Integra introduces Seras as a vampire to Pip and the Wild Geese, who laugh at Seras as they think that vampires do not exist. Seras proves that vampires do exist by poking Pip's face with brute strength, causing him to fly across the room. Pip then realizes Seras is right. After this, Seras is assigned to help their training against vampires, so she and the Wild Geese participate of target practice together to be prepared to the next missions. At first, Seras and Pip hated each other. Seras argues a lot with Pip and he, along with the Wild Geese, teases her with lewd jokes. Despite this, Seras quickly becomes close friends with them.
Soon, they are going over seas to investigate the Millennium Organization, but Alucard is set up as the police descends on the hotel they stayed in. A member of Millennium faces off against Alucard, Tubalcain Alhambra. In a moment of cockiness, Alucard takes several hits from the card throwing assassin and finds out he can not heal as fast as normal. Just as it look as if the millennium assassin had thrown the card that would seal Alucard's fate, it is blow out in the air by Seras from another building, allowing Alucard to get the killing blow. After Schrödinger appears giving a message from the leader of Millennium, the Major, Seras and the Wild Geese return to the Hellsing Manor under the orders of Integra and prepare to guard the mansion.
Upon returning to England, Millennium makes their move attacking London and Zorin Blitz with her forces attack the Hellsing Manor. Seras uses her new weapon to take down Zorin's blimp, but the surviving forces still manage to invade the mansion, including Zorin herself. Despite the Wild Geese fighting and killing part of the enemy forces, Zorin uses her illusion powers to confuse them, gaining the upper hand. Eventually, when the Zorin is about to kill the remaining Wild Geese members, including Pip, Seras appears to save them and face off Zorin. However, Seras is caught in Zorin's illusion trick and is forced into her worst nightmare, the tragic day that she saw her parents die in front of her. Zorin takes the chance to cut Seras arm off, then stabs her back and cuts her eyes, blinding her.
When Zorin is about to finish Seras, Pip saves her by knocking Zorin down. Pip grabs Seras and tries to carry her away from Zorin when a surviving millennium troop fires at him. Wounded, Pip still tries to carry Seras to safety despite her begging him to leave her behind, but Zorin throws her scythe at his back, which finally knocks him down. A dying Pip kisses Seras, who accepts the kiss after having rejected him earlier. He says she is a tough girl and asks her to drink from him, so the two of them can fight Zorin together. Realizing that the man she loves gave his life so she could live, Seras breaks down in tears and wails in pain. Zorin mocks Seras' loss, calling Pip a "gnat", which drives Seras' rage over the edge. Fulfilling Pip's dying wish, Seras bites him, sucking out all his blood and, in doing so, absorbing his soul and turning him into her familiar. With Pip's help, Seras finally becomes a True vampire and, as she does, her powers grow and the arm she lost in battle is replaced with dark shadows. A vengeful Seras merciless slaughters the last of the Millennium troops and Zorin tries to stop her with her illusions again. Zorin looks into Seras mind, only to find out that Seras' memories were mixed with Pip's, who is shielding Seras from the illusions. Seras then bites off Zorin's fingers and brutally slaughters her by dragging her head against a wall until her face peels off. Seras turns to the remaining members the Wild Geese, who salute her and call her captain after recognizing that Pip still lives in her.
She flies off from the masion to join the fight against the vampires in London. She finds Integra surrounded by members of Iscariot and Alexander Anderson. As she lands, they prepare for battle and Seras tells Integra that the Hellsing Manor was attacked, but they managed to defeat the enemy forces at the cost of themselves being wiped out. Integra realizes that Seras drank from Pip and is now a true vampire. Seras smiles saying she is not afraid from anything anymore. Right after, Alucards also joins the battle and reunites with Seras. Recognizing Seras's grow, Alucard affectionately pets his apprentice's head and smiles at her. When Alucard fights Anderson and is at on deaths door when Seras decides to help. Showing her power, she begins to fight the empowered, giving Alucard time to heal and return to the battle. After Anderson's death, Seras, Integra and Alucard are surprised by the reappearance of Walter (who is now a vampire working for Millennium) and realize that they were betrayed by him. As Alucard stays behind to fight Walter, Seras and Integra bid Walter farewell. Seras surprises Walter by thanking him for all he has done for her and then moves on with Integra.
Seras and Integra enter the Millennium's Zeppelin to kill the remaining of their enemies. Seras fights against the Captain, a member of Millennium who is a werewolf. Seras is initially overwhelmed by the Captain's strength, but when she is about to give up, she hears Pip's voice encouraging her. Motivated by her familiar, Seras gets up again and follows his instructions. With Seras' strength and Pip's tactics, she manages to hold her ground against the werewolf and they end up beating the Captain together. Seras holds the Captain while Pip manifests out of her to deliver the final blow using a silver tooth they found, with Pip even taunting the Captain for messing with "another man's woman". Later, Seras joins Integra in confronting the Major, right after Alucard vanished after absorbing Schrödinger. When the Major taunts the two women, Integra orders Seras to shoot at him. Seras obeys, using a large weapon to destroy the armored glass wall that separates them from the the Major, hitting his left arm and half his torso in the process and revealing that he is actually a cyborg. Integra and the Major engage in a gunfight, which she wins at the cost of her right eye. After the Major's death, Integra senses Walter dying and is heartbroken but tells Seras that they should go home, so Seras flies off carrying Integra and they both leave the exploding Zeppelin.
30 years later, Seras watches Integra sword practice at the Hellsing Manor when they are visited by the Iscariots. Integra tells the Iscariots to wait in the lobby while she finishes her practice, so they go back in a hallway and notice that Seras has Pip as her shadow covering up for threats in the mansion. Integra is irritated by her wrinkles because she is getting older while Seras remains forever young and is angry that Alucard has not returned yet despite Seras telling her that he would. Seras assures her that her master will return and points to the marks on her neck, saying that she knows he will be back because he drank her blood. One night, Alucard does finally return after killing all his familiars except Schrödinger (so now he is everywhere and nowhere) and Integra and Seras are both happy to welcome him back.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Charisma: Seras' friendly, kind, and upbeat personality makes her charismatic, as seen with her befriending the Wild Geese.
- Police Training: As a policewoman, Seras is well-trained in hand-to-hand combat, self-defense, and knows how to wield weapons. She also shows some maneuvers and attacks such as kicks and karate chops, indicating that she knows some kind of martial art. This is seen when she put Jan Valentine in a hold, preventing him from moving.
- Advanced Marksmanship: Seras is an expert at marksmanship. After becoming a vampire, this ability was extremely enhanced thanks to the use of her "third eye", which allows her to have superhuman accuracy.
Seras as a "True Vampire".
- True Vampire: After drinking Pip's blood and becoming a true vampire, all of Seras' vampiric powers were extremely enhanced.
- Immortality: As she is a vampire, Seras never ages and is immortal.
- Daywalking: As a fledgling vampire, Seras couldn't withstand sunlight and would wear a hooded jacket to go outside during the day. After becoming a true vampire, she no longer has this weakness and can normally walk in the sun.
- Clairvoyance: Seras has a "third eye" ability, which is similar to clairvoyance. This ability allows her to see things from very far distances and also penetrate illusions. After becoming a true vampire, Seras was able to use her "third eye" to dispel Zorin's illusions with just a thought.
- Superhuman Strength: Seras can easily take down opponents using brute strength. Even before drinking Pip's blood, she is able to destroy almost a few dozen ghouls in mere seconds while in a berserker rage. Right after becoming a true vampire, an enraged Seras decimates an entire row of vampires in a single move.
- Superhuman Speed/Reflexes: Seras has strong legs and can run very fast, even faster than bullets, and she can dodge bullets at close range.
- Superhuman Endurance: Seras can withstand a lot of damage, being able to quickly get up again if knocked down.
- Regeneration: Seras can quickly regenerate from wounds and even restore severed limbs. After drinking Pip's blood, her eyes regenerate and she regains the use of her legs. Her left arm, which had been severed at the shoulder, is restored as the same type of shadow-matter that Alucard can manipulate.
- Telepathy: Seras can telepathically communicate with her master Alucard and also with her familiar Pip.
- Shadow Manipulation: Seras can manipulate solid shadows as a true vampire, similar to Alucard. It seems that upon becoming a full vampire, Seras has inherited some of her master's powers.
- Shapeshifting: Seras can use her shadow to shapeshift herself, with it emanating from the stump that was her left arm. She can use the shadow to create the form of a bat wing, an arm, sharp spikes for stabbing, and even a weapon. She can also turn them into normal shadows that snake around the room.
- Flight: Seras can create a shadow bat wing that allows her to fly at enormous speeds.
Pip as Seras' familiar.
- Soul and Memory Absorption: Seras can absorb souls of others along with all their memories by drinking their blood. The souls she absorved become her familiars.
- Familiar Summoning: Seras can summon her familiars to help in battle. Because she had Pip's consent before drinking from him, he was able to retain his original personality and awareness, allowing him to have free will as opposed to most familiars, who are zombie-like creatures without personality or consciousness. She can also materialize Pip into the physical world.
- Psychic Shield: With Pip as her familiar, Seras can create a psychic shield to protect her mind from psychic attacks, as seen when Pip's memories were used to stop Zorin's mind probing.
- Soul and Memory Absorption: Seras can absorb souls of others along with all their memories by drinking their blood. The souls she absorved become her familiars.
Weapons[]

Seras Victoria's preferred weapon is the Hellsing ARMS Anti-Midian Cannon Harkonnen. It is a single shot cannon that has been seen to use many different types of shell ranging from Silver, Napalm and so on. The weapon unloaded weighs in around 60 kg making almost impossible for a human to wield with any ease. Seras, due to her vampirism, wields it like it was nothing and has been seen firing it while running and has even pulled of a few trick shots with the weapon. She provides support to Alucard over long range but has even been shown using the weapon at long range as well.

Later on, for the purpose of defending Hellsing HQ, Seras was given the cannon-like firearm, the Harkonnen II. Although she loses her weapons during the confrontation with Zorin, relying instead on her "Shadow Arm", Seras makes use of firearms again during the confrontation with the Captain, using a pair of MG-42 Machine Guns salvaged from dead Millennium soldiers.
