Detective Terry Hoitz is one of two main protagonists in the police comedy film The Other Guys.
He is played by Mark Wahlberg, who also portrayed Sean Dignam in The Departed, Bob Swagger in Shooter, Chris Farraday in Contraband, Billy Taggart in Broken City, Max Payne in the film with the same name, John Bennett in Ted and Ted 2, the Blue Falcon in Scoob. and Cade Yeager in Transformers: Age Of Extinction.

Hoitz was once engaged to a woman named Francine but she left because she was fed up with his anger and recklessness. He failed multiple times to win her back, Francine even took out restraining order on Terry.
Police career[]
After he shot Derek Jeter at the World Series, Hoitz has been partnered with Detective Allen Gamble. Hoitz disliked Gamble and the feeling was mutual. The two were repeatedly mistreated by antagonistic cops Martin and Fosse. Terry was the only officer who did not idolize careless officers Danson and Highsmith. During a counseling session which Terry attends with other officers, he treated with disrespect shooting Derek Jeter. When a robbery occurs, Terry wants to take the case but is stopped with Danson and Highsmith, who then die when they attempt catch the criminals by jumping off a building. At Danson and Highsmith's funeral, Terry believes that it could be their opportunity to step up to be heroes, despite Allen telling to show respect at the funeral. Martin and Fosse antagonize Terry and Allen, which leads to a fight between Martin and Terry before it is broken up by Captain Gene Mauch.
