Astra (アストラ, Asutora) is the younger twin brother of Ultraman Leo. He came to earth after learning that Leo had survived the destruction of their home planet Nebula L-77 and appeared several times in the series, assisting him several times when the odds were stacked against Leo.
Overview[]
Astra is Ultraman Leo's younger twin brother. He was initially presumed dead after the destruction of L77, but reappears to assist Leo against the monster brothers Gallon and Litre. He returns to assist Leo many more times in the series and often appears alongside Leo in other series too.
History[]
Astra first appeared in episode 22 to help Leo in fighting against monster siblings Gallon and Litter. Ever since then, he would appear to help his brother in occasional moments. In a two parter episode 38–39, Astra was left frozen and impersonated by Alien Babarue to steal the Ultra Key from the Planet Ultra and put it on a collision course with Earth. Ultraman King would later on expose Babarue's deception, allowing Leo to save his younger brother and undo the damages his impostor had made. Astra's final appearance was assisting Leo in against Saucer Monster Hungler.
Instead of assuming a human form, Astra wanders alone in space and only returns when he is needed.
Abilities[]
In contrast to Leo's Space Kenpo and Karate, Astra fights with kickboxing. By himself, Astra can manipulate sunlight as a blinding light force, performing Astra Chop and shrinks his body with Ultra Reduction to destroy an opponent from within. Alongside Leo, Astra can perform combination attacks, such as Ultra Double Flasher and Ultra Double Spark.
