Firey is the main protagonist in the animated web series, Battle for Dream Island, and is also the titular main protagonist of the comic series of the same name. And is a minor character in IDFB and Battle for Dream Island: The Power of Two.
He is voiced by the series co-creator, Michael Huang, who also voices several other characters in the series.
Appearance[]
Firey is an anthropomorphic flame. The outer flames are orange and his inner flame is yellow orange. His outlines are burnt orange.
Personality[]
In the first season, Firey is usually more independent than others, however, he spends a lot of time slapping with his rival, Coiny. Firey is also forgetful, as he forgets that lava can kill Leafy. In the end of the season, he gets more of an understanding of his surroundings and shows signs of genuine sincerity.
In the rest of the seasons, Firey is noticeably more arrogant, as he completely ignores Leafy by "forgetting about her", because she stole Dream Island and to save his reputation. Despite their conflicts, he still cares about Leafy, and the latter fully apologized to him to make up for her actions, which rebuilds their friendship.
Firey is also a little dim-witted, as he believed that Gelatin, disguised as Flower, thought it was the real Flower, and believed the real one was an impostor.
Biography[]
Battle for Dream Island[]
Firey is first seen on top on Spongy while fighting with Coiny. When Leafy and Pin choose their teams, Firey is selected to be in the Squishy Cherries. During the second challenge, he is scared for most of the ride on the boat due to a leak.
In "Barriers in Pitfalls", he goes through all of the obstacles, but is not able to finish the challenge since he is required to fill his tank with water.
In "Are You Smarter Than a Snowball?", he shelters himself during a rainstorm, which he refers to a "Teardrop family reunion."
In "Sweet Tooth", he makes a cake by heating it up himself and makes fun of Coiny for using an oven. Firey's cake got a high score of 19, though his team loses the tiebreaker.
Firey partners with Pen and Eraser in "The Power of Three." When Firey falls out of the balance beam and hits the water (which kills him). Pen and Eraser are forced to go back and make a Firey Recovery Center. After Firey is recovered, he knocks over Snowball's blocks in order to get the key, which makes them get first place.
Firey later joins the Squashy Grapes in "Puzzling Mysteries" after being selected by everyone except Coiny, much to Firey's annoyance.
In "Cycle of Life", Firey carries Ice Cube while running, melting to death. The Squashy Grapes are later told by the Announcer that an eliminated contestant will rejoin the team.
When splitting up teams in "Insectophobe's Nightmare", Firey is put in Another Name after the Squashy Grapes splits up, once again, being on the same team as Coiny, which he fights with yet again.
In "Crybaby!", Firey, yet again fights with Coiny for most of the competition. Firey later trips on Rocky during the tiebreaker, which forms a giant snowball, which leads to his teams elimination.
Both Firey and Coiny are safe from elimination in "Lofty", much to Tennis Ball's dismay. After Firey's balloon is popped by Blocky, he lights Bomby, causing the latter to explode.
In "A Leg Up in the Race", Firey and Coiny start their final feud, which Tennis Ball tries to calm down. After Coiny is eliminated, Firey mocks him. Firey is safe from the danger zone from getting 9th place in the ladder contest.
In "Don't Lose Your Marbles", Firey starts slapping Tennis Ball since he had to slap someone since Coiny is eliminated, much to the Tennis Ball's annoyance. He later slaps a tree and gets a ball, being safe once again.
In "Vomitaco", 7 out of the 10 contestants liked his taco, questioning on how they like burnt tacos. In "Bowling, Now with Explosions!", Firey gets a strike.
Firey and Tennis Ball team up for the contest in "The Reveal", ending up in 3rd place due to Firey using his tongue.
Firey and Leafy start their first friendship in "Gardening Hero." Both try to take out Spongy but it misses. Firey is also nearly sucked by a black hole, but was sold by the Announcer due to "budget cuts." After his spaceship was sold for the same reason, Firey gets shot by Bubble, putting him up for elimination.
Firey builds the Firey Speaker Box in "Don't Pierce My Flesh", since the Announcer was crushed by Spongy. Firey almost wins immunity in the volcano contest thanks to his ability to swim in magma, but is eaten by a Fire Monster. Despite this, Firey gets immunity anyway in the beauty contest as his speaker box choice him.
In "Hurtful!", he gets help from Leafy during the contest, while Firey is killed multiple times by Flower. Firey also gets a punishment from the Announcer to hold a sign that says "VOTE ME OUT!"
Firey later builds a Ferris wheel for Leafy in "Insectophobe's Nightmare 2", but the latter gets killed by lava. During the bug attack, Firey tries to burn them all, but he gets eaten by a large one.
Firey is declared the winner of Battle for Dream Island in "Return of the Hang Glider." He lets everyone in Dream Island after winning (which includes the dreaded Flower and his rival, Coiny) except for Leafy due to her "rejection" of Firey's Ferris wheel. This causes Leafy to steal Dream Island out of anger after making a deal with the Announcer. This causes Dream Island to disappear, much to everyone's shock. When Flower destroys the Recovery Centers, both Firey and Coiny find her acts despicable, agreeing with each other for the first time. In the end, before Leafy could get executed by Golf Ball for stealing Dream Island, Firey saves her, apologizing to Leafy and says that all we wants is friendship. The two then glide away, ending the season.
Battle for Dream Island Again[]
Firey returns in the second season in "Yeah Who? I Wanna Know." Firey decides to have TV as the host since he looks the most similar to the Announcer. Firey also reads the last rule of Battle for Dream Island Again. Firey ends up in Team No-Name and easily wins against the smaller W.O.A.H. Bunch team.
He discusses with Book and Golf Ball in "Get Digging", on how they can collect yoyleberries for a stew. However, his team ends up losing the contest. In "Zeeky Boogy Doog", Firey tells Book that she is "well-read", and gets frozen by Book by using Freeze Juice.
Firey is later recovered in "Get in the Van" by Bubble and Leafy. When Leafy tries to talk to him again, Firey claims he doesn't remember who she is. Firey also promises to stay on Team No-Name and rides on Puffball to reach the Yoyle Summit. In "The Long-lost Yoyle City", he ties hist legs with Gelatin and almost falls in Davidland. Puffball later sabotages the team and causes the contestants, including Firey, to fall off her.
In "Meaty", Firey was eliminated.
IDFB[]
Firey is shown to be imprisoned by FreeSmart as a punishment for an unknown reason (possibly for recovering Leafy). According to Ruby, Firey won the prize for BFDIA5e.
Battle for BFDI[]
In "Getting Teardrop to Talk", Firey has seemingly escaped the cage from IDFB, and is seen sitting with Coiny, Taco, and Snowball. When choosing teams, Firey asks Loser if he wants to join his team with his friends. After this, Firey wants the team to be called The Losers! Firey later throws Pin into a basket to "remove the hater."
In "Four Goes Too Far", Firey gets the twinkle. Firey also gets slapped by Coiny when the former thinks that Black Hole has the twinkle. Since Clock got inflicted by the Twinkle, making his team up for elimination. In the next episode, "Questions Answered", Firey is upset when his speaker box is chopped up by Donut.
In "Get to the Top in 500 Steps", Firey walks away from Leafy after the latter is about to say hello to him. Firey gets into an argument with Coiny after the latter says that he isn't doing anything, though it ends after Coiny thought Firey had called himself slow.
Firey has survived the lava in "The Four is Lava" and snatches Leafy. He still pretends he doesn't know who she is. After he gets to an area where no one can see them, he states that nobody likes her anymore and can't let anyone know in order to save his reputation. Later in the episode, when Leafy talks to Eggy about how she has no friends, Firey shouts to Eggy that Leafy stole Dream Island, must to Eggy's disgust. In "The Escape from Four", Firey is one of the 14 contestants to continue competing in BFB.
Battle for BFB[]
In "X Marks the Spot", he is placed in the X colored team (later known as the Have Nots). His team is safe from elimination thanks to the Four Colored Team (Have Cots) has accidently flung X on Loser's spot.
Firey is extinguished from Spongy's fluids. Bubble and Lollipop later trick him into thinking they are Flower. While Firey notices the disguises, he is fooled by Gelatin when he does the same thing. He and Leafy later face each other, mocking her and is unamused with her behavior. Firey later falls into a bracelet and burns it, which causes his tower to get destroyed, leading to his teams elimination.
In "How Loe Can You Grow?", Firey intends to throw a rocket ship at the sun so it can grow. He later fires a laser, which gets too hot. Firey suggests that his team can dump ice in the sun, but the ship caught on fire as it got too close to the sun. Firey is still on the sun in the next episode, "A Taste of Space", Firey gets pushed into the sun by the Have Cots, which makes it hotter by 800 degrees.
In "Let's Raid The Warehouse", Firey tells his team that they should separate during the contest. He later suggest giving Flower a bug larvae, which makes Taco remind him that Flower is afraid of bugs. When Blocky chooses a box to give to Woody, Firey agrees since he thinks that he can use it to hide whenever he is scared. While his team got 10 points from Flower, his team also gets 0 points from Woody.
In "Who Stole Donut's Diary?", Firey and his team is tasked to watch over Donut's diary. It is later missing after Four and X came back. Leafy later asks questions to the Have Nots, she calls out Firey. Firey then makes up a story on how she stole the diary, which makes him feel bitter about the fact Leafy stole Dream Island. After Leafy tells Four that she wants a private talk with Firey, the two get into a heated argument. When Firey admits that he stole the diary, the two make up. Firey is later worried that his team will be mad at him and will be eliminated. Leafy promises that she will tell everyone that she stole the diary if he returns it. The two try to hug, but Leafy burns into ashes. Firey rushes back to the courtroom and tells Four to recover Leafy. Four tells Firey in the stinger that he won't tell anyone he stole the diary, and later punishes him by having to clean the entire railroad. Leafy then asks if Firey needs some help, and accepts her offer.
In "Fashion For Your Face", Firey accidentally caused the train to burst into flames and later finds a nearby train to use instead. He, Blocky, and Woody later stop at a mountain and use the boxing gloves to get to Four. However, they lose the challenge since there was no way for them to get to the top.
Firey tries to hang out with Leafy, but calls him out for not defending her earlier and never apologized to her after ignoring her for years, though she says that they can talk again later, leaving Firey upset. Firey comes with the idea to gift Leafy, which Gelatin offers to help. Firey's gift appears to be a Ferris wheel that drops both water and lava so he and Leafy can ride it together. After apologizing to Leafy, she accepts his apology. Four gives it a 2/10 for not being about him. Woody detaches the Ferris wheel in the stinger, which causes it to roll away with Firey and Leafy still inside.
Firey is eliminated for the first time in "The Tweested Temple", Firey reassures to Leafy that he doesn't care about any prizes and is now happy he is in good terms with her now. After Leafy's arm gets too tired, they both say goodbye to each other.
In "SOS (Save Our Show)", Firey is used as a prank to have Gelatin burned inside him. Firey comments that this is awkward and asks to leave. When Firey explains that he should win all prizes from all seasons, he gets donated minus dollars. Firey is later upset when the budget gets low to the point where they are reduced to paper cuts.
In "Chapter Complete", Firey votes for Flower to win. Flower says that she is glad she won, but is willing to share the prize with Gelatin. Purple Face later steals the BFDI, Firey tells everyone to get it back for Flower. Firey and Leafy says that it must be nice for Flower and Gelatin to use their prizes to create their own Dream Island. In the end of the episode, Firey and Leafy get on a boat to search for a new island.
