Fishlegs is one of the deuteragonists of the book series, How to Train Your Dragon. He is the illegitimate child of Alvin the Treacherous who washed up on the Hairy Hooligan Island after his mother was forced to abandon him per her tribe's laws. Growing up, he would become the best friend of Hiccup, another Viking misfit and the two would often go on misadventures.

How to Train Your Dragon[]
Fishlegs was tasked alongside other boys to find a hunting dragon in the caves. Hiccup found a dragon, but gave it to Fishlegs, since he did not get a dragon yet. He named it Horrorcow. He trained it for the final test. All the boys failed the test because of Toothless. Two gigantic dragons got washed ashore. The boys planned to make them fight each other by using feather bombs. It succeeded.
How to Be a Pirate[]
As the tribe is being told by Alvin the Poor But Honest Farmer that the founder of the treasure will be the heir of Grimbeard the Ghastly, they went to the island. In the island, Snotlout founded the treasure. Alvin later revealed that he is actually Alvin the Treacherous. As Hiccup, Alvin, Toothless and Fishlegs are on the boat headed to Berk, Their boat sunk and they went in the cave. Toothless found the actual treasure, so it was Hiccup who is the heir.
How to Speak Dragonese[]
Hiccup and Fishlegs were captured to the Roman Empire. Alvin was in the plan all along. In the prison cell, they met Camicazi. During the execution in the colosseum, where it flooded with and got Sharkworm Dragons, the nano dragons lifted Hiccup, which made him appeared flying. After that, they escaped on a hot air balloon.
How to Cheat a Dragon's Curse[]
Fishlegs is sick with Vorpentitis and the only cure is the potato. Hiccup and Camicazi will steal the potato from the Histeric tribe. They did it, but the Doomfang Dragon ate it and got cured from the same disease. As they went home, it turned out that it was Hiccup who had the disease, not Fishlegs. Fishlegs shot the arrow that was once on a potato. It landed on Hiccup's toe and it cured him.

Some Exterminator Dragons hatched, so the goal is to put the fire-stone in the volcano. Hiccup, Fishlegs, Humongous and Camicazi went to that island to stop them.

Toothless burned the How to Train Your Dragon book, so Hiccup and his friends will steal another one. they went to the library and stole it.
How to Ride a Dragon's Storm[]
There is a swimming contest and the last one is the winner, since it is very cold. During the contest, Norbert kidnapped Fishlegs and his friends. The slaved saved Fishlegs and his friends and brought them back to Berk with a handglider.

Fishlegs was in love with the daughter of Ug, so Ug gave him an impossible task to go to the Berserker Island. He and hiccup got imprisoned with many fiances. Later, they escaped.

Fishlegs is Hiccup's companion. He goes with Hiccup when finding the crown. When Hiccup was revealed to have a slavemark, Fishlegs said to him that with or without the slavemark he is still a king. Fishlegs gave him a lobster claw necklace.
