Foxy the Pirate is a major antagonist in the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise. He also appears in FNaF World as a supporting character.
Appearance[]
Foxy is a crimson animatronic fox with a pale orange belly. While he does have yellow eyes, he wears an eye-patch on one of his eyes, and like foxy from the other games, he has it over his eye while in a passive state. Out of all of the classic animatronics, he has the sharpest teeth, being very sharp specifically on the lateral incisors. He has two large, ovular ears that stick out of the top of his head, as well as presumably three hair/fur tufts sticking out of both of his cheeks are two large points. He also has a small black nose and a hook.
While the hands on his arms are exposed down to the endoskeleton, one hand is replaced by a hook. He wears brown pants, with anything below his pants being completely torn up, exposing his endoskeleton underneath his body.
In FNaF World[]
Foxy plays a unique role in your party during the early game, and can even wound up being useful late game due to having one especially useful attack, Jumpscare. However other characters that have Jumpscare are usually better choices.
Foxy plays a very unique offensive role, damaging enemies with Hot Cheese, which causes damage over time during most of the fight, while stunning them with Jumpscare. Depending on the situation, you will most likely be choosing between Jumpscare and Hot Cheese, however Jumpscare will most likely be picked the most. Never use Hook as Foxy, its damage simply doesn't justify the safety of Jumpscare or the extra damage over time that Hot Cheese will do, only ever use it to try to quickly finish off a single enemy like a boss if you know their health is low.
If your team is open to attacks and the enemies you are fighting do decent damage or have particularly scary attacks, use Jumpscare during the entire fight. The precious few seconds you get each time Jumpscare takes effect can mean the difference between having enough time to finish off an enemy or heal, or simply being killed by your enemies. It will most likely be your most used attack with Foxy during most of the game. Jumpscare is so useful that its even recommended to use against most bosses and even the final boss of the game just to buy you those extra few seconds you need to win the fight, however there are many mid game characters with Jumpscare that have stronger attacks then Hot cheese and Hook.
Hot Cheese should be used whenever you are dealing with an enemy that is slower or simply doesn't hit hard with single attacks, and instead uses poison or other over time effects. Since stunning the enemy will not cancel the damage, use Hot Cheese instead to add some valuable extra damage. The damage is not much per hit; however, Hot Cheese last a long time and the damage really starts stacking up as the fight goes on. You will not use this attack often, but it can be very useful under the right circumstances.
In the end, Foxy serves a unique role during the early game, being the only starting character with Jumpscare, until you get another character with the same ability, you should definitely keep Foxy simply for the Jumpscare ability, its stunning effect is simply too valuable to pass up. However once you get Phantom Foxy, Phantom Mangle, or Golden Freddy and their other abilities; such as Hot Cheese 2, Toxic Bite, Unscrew and Haunting, they should replace Foxy mid to late game.
Foxy should be quickly replaced once you either: 1. Have another animatronic with Jumpscare, which will, in almost any circumstance, be better then Foxy. Or 2. Have enough defensive buffs or Debuffs to reduce your enemies attack enough that stunning them is no longer important, EX: Armor Song, Gift Boxes, or Neon Wall mixed with Gloom Balloon/Song. Together these two will reduce almost any enemies attack enough that Jumpscares stun will be redundant.
Strategy[]
Foxy isn't the strongest starter in the game, but he is great as a supportive attacker. Hook does very little damage but has minor helpfulness at the start of the game. His best attack in the game is Jumpscare, which is great for stunning, although it does no damage, and Hot Cheese is great for damage over time. He's an OK starter character, but can be replaced with better characters like Mangle. If the player wants to use him, they should be sure to put stronger supporting characters in their party.
Attacks[]
Classic[]
- Deals fairly low damage to a single target
- Temporarily stuns all enemies
- Drops cheese blobs, slowly damaging enemies on top of the cheese
Withered[]
- - An orange attack that deals weak damage to a single enemy.
- - A purple attack that lowers enemy defense.
- - A red attack that deals continuous damage stronger than Hot Cheese.

Trivia[]
- The line from Foxy's loading screen is likely a reference to the Pirate Cove's sign from the first Five Nights at Freddy's game where it says "-SORRY!- OUT OF ORDER".
- It also could be a reference to the fact that Foxy was supposed to be in working conditions during the event of Five Nights at Freddy's.
- Even though Foxy's loading screen says "Back in order," his hand and legs are still exposed.
- Interestingly, despite the core series's reputation for jumpscares, Foxy is the only "classic" animatronic to have Jumpscare.
- This could be due to Foxy's more intense method of scaring the player.
- If one looks closely at Foxy's eyes, they are an orange color instead of the usual yellowish-orange color that they are in the core series.
- If one were to look closely, Foxy's head is more similar to that of Withered Foxy than his incarnation in Five Nights at Freddy's. This could mean that Foxy is based on his appearance before the events of Five Nights at Freddy's 2, albeit with exposed endoskeleton at the lower region.
- However, Five Nights at Freddy's 2 is considered to be a prequel, story-wise.
- Foxy seems to be a lot smaller than most characters in the game, which is strange as he was very tall in the core series.
- However, it is possible that his size is misinterpreted, due to the crouching in his idle animation.
- It could possibly a reference to his Funtime counterpart, who is one of the shortest Funtime animatronics.
- Foxy is voiced by Jesse Adam in Update 2.
- Foxy's voice in Foxy Fighters sounds similiar to Sega's mascot, Sonic the Hedgehog.
- This might be a reference to Foxy running in the hallway in the core series.
- Foxy's attack animation seems to be primarily for his Hook attack.
- When battling Phantom Foxy, his arm position is switched. This is due to the battle sprite being flipped so a new one would not have to be made.
- This also happens to Withered Bonnie's arm and any variation of Foxy that has a hook, as well as Withered Chica's bib.
- Phantom Foxy's legs and ears are identified to that of Endo-02's; this also applies to Withered Foxy, similar to the core series.
- His loading screen references Foxy being very popular amongst the FNaF fanbase.
- Nightmare Foxy having the attack "Bite 2" is a reference to how he was a suspect of the Bite of '87. This is also true for the other Nightmare animatronics with the exception of Plushtrap, Nightmare, Nightmare Fredbear and the animatronics from Update 2.
- Nightmare Foxy's loading screen would be referring to that he was still out of order for four games, if the one counted the numeral order of the core games.
- Oddly, Nightmare Foxy completely lacks fur on his right ear despite having fur on both ears in Five Nights at Freddy's 4.
- It is possible the model for Nightmare Foxy's head was based on Withered Foxy's head.
- Nightmare Foxy still does not have the long pointy tongue as shown in one of the Five Nights at Freddy's 4 teasers and the title screen of the same game.
- Nightmare Foxy is one of two animatronics to have a different set of endoskeleton feet that is used by most other animatronics, the other being Withered Bonnie.
- Nightmare Foxy is also the only nightmare animatronic to show his endoskeleton feet.
- Interestingly, they also share the same attack, Unscrew 2.
- Some people wish to have Nightmare Mangle in the game. Strangely, Update 2 did not feature Nightmare Mangle, despite it being a Halloween character. It is unknown when it will be added, or not at all.
- Nightmare Foxy was one of the last few characters to have a kid-friendly redesign, possibly because Scott was having a hard time making him cute. The same applies to Nightmare Chica.
- From the game's menu screen and while battling Nightmare Foxy, his hook position is switched. This is due to the appearance being flipped so a new one would not have to be made.
- This also happens to Withered Foxy and Funtime Foxy when they are challenged.
- Nightmare Foxy is one of the two characters that has only upgraded attacks (Bite 2, Unscrew 2, and Hot Cheese 2), the other being Nightmare Bonnie.
- Nightmare Foxy is one of two Foxy characters that doesn't have an eyepatch, the other being Funtime Foxy.
