Good for me!
~ Freakazoid's catchphrase
Freak Out!
~ Dexter Douglas' catchphrase to switch into Freakazoid

Freakazoid (real name Dexter Douglas) is the main titular protagonist of the underrated 1995-1997 Steven Spielberg/WB cartoon series of the same name, and a guest-star in Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain, and the Teen Titans Go! episode "Huggbees" as the titular deuteragonist.

He is a Thrill-seeking and stereotypical Slapstick Superhero after being accidentally sent to Cyberspace from his typical nerdy life as Dexter, he now seeks tries to protect his city from many villains.

He was voiced by Paul Rugg.

Origin[]

The show's title character is the superhero alter ego of geeky sixteen-year-old Dexter Douglas, he attends Harry Connick High School. His name is a parody of various superheroes' alliterative names (e.g. Clark Kent, Peter Parker, etc). He is also based on The Creeper. Dexter Douglas is similar to Clark Kent in Superman series.

Transformation[]

Dexter can change into and out of Freakazoid at will with the words "Freak out!" and "Freak in!" When not in Freakazoid mode, Dexter looks and acts completely normal, and his family is unaware that anything has happened to him. Freakazoid spends this time in an area of Dexter's brain called the Freakazone, where he reflects, has profound thoughts, and watches reruns of The Rat Patrol.

The "secret key sequence" that must be typed for the computer bug to become active (a reference to the Pentium FDIV bug) begins with: "@[=g3,8d]\&fbb=-q]/hk%fg" (the quotes are included) as seen when Roddy MacStew types the combination in "The Chip (Act IV)". The bug manifests when the user presses Delete after entering the string. The bug was first manifested when Dexter's cat crawled onto the keyboard.

Powers and Abilities[]

Freakazoid has enhanced strength and endurance, extraordinary speed, agility, and negligible amounts of sanity. These changes make him a powerful and fearsome force for upholding freedom and righteousness, unless he gets distracted by something like a bear riding a motorcycle. He has a base called the Freakalair, a parody of the Batcave, built by his mute butler, Ingmar. The Freakalair contains a "Hall of Nifty Things to Know" and even a mad scientist lab.

Peripheral powers come and go: Freakazoid once developed telekinesis triggered by anger that was never mentioned again after the episode, and once crossed the globe to yell at a Tibetan monk for raking too loud. He also has the ability to assume the form of electricity and cover long distances instantaneously, although he just as often simply sticks his arms forward and runs while making swooshing sounds with his mouth, pretending to fly.

In "The Chip: Part II", Freakazoid was convinced by police sergeant Sergeant Mike Cosgrove to become a superhero mainly to impress girls.

Weakness[]

His greatest weakness, as he once explained to a villain, is that he can be imprisoned in a cage with graphite bars charged with negative ions. He also expresses a great aversion to "poo gas."

Personality[]

Dexter Douglas is a nerd who's timid, insecure and a geeky genius loser who seems fearful of many things despite experimenting with his 16 MB ram chip that was so flawed, it sent him into the cyberspace of the internet, which turns Dexter into his goofy & crazy superhero alter-ego known as "Freakazoid", who Dex turns into in order to stop crime. (Which has been visibly implied that Freakazoid has possessed Dex and turned him into an different person from his own).

Freakazoid himself is best defined as a thrill-seeking lunatic whose comedic personality is rather wacky, zany, silly, energetic, hyperactive, fearless, unpredictable, chaotic, reckless, aggressive, playful (as well as mischievous), sassy and goes all out with his super strength and super speed, as well as carrying a big blabbering mouth, with a fast-talking tone to spew out many countless jokes and pop-culture references. He also likes chocolate cakes, watching tv, kissing ladies (as well as impressing them), fighting crime, and his whole shtick is driving villains crazy with his wild antics and off-the-wall behavior, despite all of this, he really seems to do whatever exciting and rambunctious activity he wants to do and isn't always committed to be an superhero. In regards to his childish and insane nature, he has shown that he can use his overwhelming levels in weirdness and craziness to his advantage, and become something of a unstoppable trickster with his superpowers to foil bad guys despite being somewhat dumb.
