Freckles was a Mantis-class military assault droid that was activated by Caboose, who later took him as a pet. Freckles first appeared in the Season 11 episode, S.O.S. and was later implemented into Caboose's assault rifle during Season 12. Freckles serves as a supporting character in the Chorus Trilogy, albeit with a somewhat antagonistic role in Season 11

Freckles is Caboose's "pet" in Season 11, an automated MANTIS walker that he discovered in a crashed ship. Its AI is transferred to his assault rifle in Season 12 after being heavily damaged at the end of Season 11.
Personality[]
Freckles has limited capacity, but it seems to have some degree of sentience. Specifically, it has some problems with interpreting some commands properly. Likewise, it only listens to Caboose or anyone Caboose tells him to listen to, like Washington or Dr. Grey. In Season 13 when he is in control of Caboose's rifle he only shoots at enemy targets, even if someone pulls the trigger to the rifle. He did not take kindly to Felix stealing him and trying to use him to kill Caboose.
