~ Fred |
Fred is the nephew of Ebenezer Scrooge and the tetartagonist in Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. He is also Scrooge's only living relative.
History
Fred is the son of Scrooge's little sister Fan who died giving birth to him. Scrooge blamed him for this because Fan was the only joy in his life. Fred visits Scrooge at his counting house asking him to come and dine with him and his wife on Christmas Day. Scrooge rudely refuses and asks why Fred decided to get married. Fred replies with: "Because I fell in love." Later on in a vision made by the Ghost of Christmas Present, Fred is seen celebrating Christmas with his wife and friends. They play a guessing game in which Scrooge is the answer. After his visit with the three ghosts, Scrooge decides to go to Fred's Christmas party after all and has a wonderful time.
