Freja Skov is a playable character in the video game Overwatch 2. She is a Danish warrior, who was used to be a former member of Overwatch, acting as a search and rescue operative, before she turned to bounty hunting when the organization disbanded.
She is voiced by Olivia Le Anderson.
Story[]
Inspired by her mother's efforts during the Omnic Crisis at a young age, Freja Skov studied criminology and over the years worked her way up through Denmark's law enforcement and military, specializing in search-and-rescue operations. Each successful mission granted Freja a sense of fulfillment and purpose and, growing ever more ambitious in furthering her career, set her sights on joining Overwatch.
For many years, Freja continued to enjoy her successes as one of Overwatch's top search-and-rescue specialists...until the dying days of the organization. Suddenly, her missions began ending in failure. One after another, more and more lives were lost due to erratic leadership decisions. But when Freja and her team raised concerns and objections, they were met with indifference, causing many of them to leave. Unwilling to give up, Freja stayed behind until Overwatch was finally shut down, and with its fall, no agent or employee was spared from the ensuing fallout. In an instant, she was branded a societal outcast due to her association with Overwatch. No organization would accept her skillset, leaving her alone and adrift.
But opportunity knocks when one least expects it, and it was no different for Freja. Turning to the dark web as her last resort, she took to bounty hunting. At first she took up jobs she would have taken up as a member of Overwatch, but over time she realized that the feeling of helping people in need was secondary compared to the rush she got from the thrill of the hunt. Now Freja is feared as the legendary bounty hunter known only as "GEFN", capable of finding and subduing the most dangerous targets. If the world chose to abandon her, Freja would choose to live for herself.
Personality[]
Initially, Freja thought she was doing important work at Overwatch, as she didn't mind staying in the background as part of the search-and-rescue team, and forged ahead through the organization's backlash. She points out in the motion comic "Storm Chaser" that Overwatch as a whole was still doing more good than bad with their other divisions, but she was still looked as as a pariah due to the actions of the hero/military unit. However, when Overwatch disbanded and she couldn't find work anywhere, she completely lost trust in the organization. Although she retains a sense of righteousness and empathy, Freja is now turned to bounty hunting, as a way of coping with the fact that Overwatch betrayed her expectations with its imperfect leadership staining her and so many other agents' once perfect reputation. She's introduced to lore serving Maximilien to hunt down several targets of interest, the latest being Emre Sarioglu, a former partner in Overwatch.
Abilities[]
Freja is a nimble hunter who can quickly pursue and take down targets with accuracy. Her primary weapon is a crossbow with a rapid fire primary mode and a secondary explosive shot.
- Take Aim allows Freja to slow her movement and aim down sight with her crossbow and fire a high speed bolt that explodes on contact.
- Quick Dash both allows Freja to dash in any direction and refreshes the Take Aim ability.
- Updraft boosts Freja vertically through the air with a gust of wind from her cape.
- Her passive Bounty Hunting gets her bonus ultimate change every 5 killing blows.
- Her ultimate is Bola Shot, where she fires out a bola that can ensnare one enemy and pull other enemies in before exploding.
