Fubuki (吹雪, "Blizzard") is a major protagonist in Kantai Collection, serving as the main protagonist of the first anime adaptation and movie. She is the first ship of the Japanese Fubuki-class destroyers and a navy sailor.
She is the personification of a real-life Imperial Japanese Navy namesake destroyer.
Fubuki is voiced by Sumire Uesaka in Japanese and Felecia Angelle in the English anime dub who also voiced Asuka in Senran Kagura, Toru Hagakure in My Hero Academia and Aoi Asahina in Danganronpa.
Biography[]
Fubuki was the lead ship of twenty-four Fubuki-class destroyers, built for the Imperial Japanese Navy following World War I. When introduced into services, these ships were the most powerful destroyers in the world. They served as first-line destroyers through the 1930s, and remained formidable weapons systems well into the Pacific War. Fubuki was a veteran of many of the major battles of the first year of the war, and was sunk in Ironbottom Sound during the Battle of Cape Esperance in World War II.
Appearance[]
Fubuki has black hair in a small ponytail and a payot in front, and black eyes. She along with her sister-ships wears a serafuku with a white and dark blue color scheme of blouse and skirt.
In her combat gear, she wears her rigging as a form of backpack, while carrying two torpedo mounts in both sides of her thighs. Her sole cannon turret is wrist-mounted and double-barreled.
She gained her second remodel with the January 9th 2015 update and thus, becomes the first starter ship to have one. Her serafuku becomes black with red stripes on white (like Ayanami before her) and replaces her standard 12.7 cm twin turret with a long 10 cm turret and wears a type 94 fire detector on her left wrist. Her use of this gear is fictive, however. She was sunk before she could ever had a chance to be refit with AA weaponry.
Personality[]
She is the main character of the game and anime. In the 4-koma she is portrayed as a newbie ship that tries her best at everything she does and is often weirded out about all the other ships' antics.

- When introduced, the Fubuki-class were among the most powerful destroyers in the world.
- Some sources, due to design lineage, have the Ayanami-class (Type II) & Akatsuki-class (Type III) as a part of the Fubuki-class (Type I).
