Fujibayashi Naoe is one of the two main protagonists (alongside Yasuke) of the 2025 video game, Assassin's Creed: Shadows.
She is the last surviving Igan following the attack on Iga by Oda Nobunaga's forces, and the game's more traditional, stealth-oriented protagonist.
She is voiced by Masumi Tsunoda.
Story[]
Born to the jōnin Fujibayashi Nagato in the midst of the Sengoku period, Naoe was trained by him and became a member of the Japanese Brotherhood of Assassins. In 1581, Oda Nobunaga's forces invaded Iga. Although Oda's retainer Yasuke was a participant of the attack, he later became Naoe's ally, assisting her in both intelligence gathering and assassinations.
Personality[]
As a young woman, Fujibayashi Naoe was quite dedicated at her goals. She brought intensity into her relationships that was tempered by the more grounded and thoughtful Yasuke. While she didn't hesitate to openly express herself, she harbored her own wisdom as well that grew continuously throughout her life. The foundations for this wisdom was instilled in her by her father who alongside her Iga community also taught her the values of valor and kindness. Morally diligent, she challenged Yasuke to discover a path apart from the seeming universal reality of "greed, power, and vengeance".
Skills & Equipment[]
Trained in ninjutsu by her father, Naoe was an incredibly agile warrior skilled in parkour and in stealth. Her ability to infiltrate locations as secure as tenshu was augmented by her wide arsenal of tools that included smoke bombs and grappling hooks. To maximize ease of movement, she always wore light armor at most—notably shin guards and a chainmail sleeve on her left arm—that offered only minimal protection. However, she was unerringly swift in combat and was highly lethal in an assortment of weapons, ranging from the katana and the kusarigama to throwing weapons like the shuriken and kunai. She was skilled enough to consistently match trained samurai in combat, fought the warlord Daimyo Oda Nobunaga to the point of his defeat, and fought his bodyguard Yasuke. one of the most skilled samurai in japan, to a standstill.
