Rather than feeling regretful right now, you should use this next match as a source of encouragement.
~ Fumikage Tokoyami
With your positions revealed, you're in my crosshairs. And there's no hiding from the coming storm. As Hawks would say... speed beats power.
~ Fumikage Tokoyami

Fumikage Tokoyami, more commonly known as Jet-Black Hero: Tsukuyomi, is a supporting character in the My Hero Academia franchise. He is a student in Class 1-A at U.A. High School, training to become a Pro Hero.

He is voiced by Yoshimasa Hosoya in the Japanese version of the anime, and by Jessie James Grelle in the English version, both of whom have also voiced Dark Shadow in the same series.

Appearance[]

Fumikage is a teenage boy who is rather on the short side, he has the head of a black bird resembling that of a crow or raven, with a hooked yellowish beak. He has thin, red eyes with small black pupils along with a red choker. While having a bird head, his body is that of a normal fair-skinned human.

After his internship and training with Hawks, Tokoyami becomes rather more muscular as a result of the training.

Tokoyami's hero costume consists of a dark, black cloak that reaches to his shins. Underneath that cloak is a dark t-shirt with wristbands and dark pants as well as a utility belt. Some might say he resembles the pokemon known as Murkrow.

Personality[]

Fumikage is best described as a calm, focused and diligent young man. He is rather stoical and doesn't show as much emotion as his fellow classmates or his counterpart; Dark Shadow. Despite this, Fumikage does prove to be very valiant and noble as well taking on a more sophisticated and respectful attitude towards his peers. While not that talkative, he does become more sociable when teaming up with others, as shown on both occasions when teaming up with Tsuyu Asui.

Fumikage has a liking for the darkness-theme, as shown by his room being like a dark lair with purple candles. He tends to speak in very archaic tones, which can sometimes make him come off as dramatic or even rather creepy. He also shows to be somewhat insecure of his interests, disliking the other students seeing his room.

Despite his normally serious attitude and liking for darkness, Fumikage does hold great care for his friends and fellow peers. This is shown during his panic after witnessing his classmates go to rescue Katsuki Bakugo, as well as showing respect for his mentor Hawks. As mentioned there, Fumikage also has clear humility and takes his responsibilities seriously with him dutifully believing to be a representation of the No. 2 hero.

While one of the strongest students in Class 1-A, Fumikage is in no way arrogant and is willing to take his weaknesses into consideration. He is particularly cautious when using Dark Shadow and fears the creature falling out of control in dark areas due to the possibility and likelihood of harming others unintentionally. He does however, also strive to have better control of these drawbacks and (with advice from Hawks) also works on his strengths in conjunction to further better himself.

Powers and Abilities[]

Quirk[]

Dark Shadow: Fumikage's Quirk allows him to manifest a sentient, shadowy being from his body that he can control and use; both in combat scenarios as well as to aid him and allies. The creature Dark Shadow is in fact a sentient being who communicates with Fumikage telepathically and acts somewhat like a guardian towards the young hero in training. Dark Shadow is capable of shapeshifting to some extent, and can use it's long body and claws as weapons, as shown with how it attacked Momo Yaoyorozu during the Sports Festival match and easily knocked her out of the ring.

However, one major drawback is balancing Dark Shadow's great power with Fumikage's control over it. In the light, Dark Shadow is more docile yet can still be controlled and (mostly) follows Fumikage's command to the letter. Furthermore, Dark Shadow is also naturally weak against light, as shown by how Katsuki Bakugo used his Explosion Quirk to incapacitate the creature. In the darkness however, Dark Shadow becomes extremely more powerful but also more chaotic, destructive and uncontrollable. This power extends to where Dark Shadow in the night of the forest camp, was capable of defeating Moonfish -an extremely powerful and dangerous B-Rank villain- and cut through his blade-like teeth with relative ease and knocked the villain out cold.
