Fushi is the main protagonist of the anime and manga series To Your Eternity. He is an immortal being created by The Beholder, an all-mighty being; he takes on the appearance of a young boy with white hair created who died due to freezing to death and the lack of treatment for his sickness, The creation took the name of Fushi and decided to explore his environment subsquently.
He is voiced by Reiji Kawashima (who also voiced Taiyo Asano in Mission: Yozakura Family and Finn Ames in Mashle: Magic and Muscles) in Japanese and Jacob Hopkins (who also voiced Gumball Watterson in season 3 to "The Copycats" of season 5 of The Amazing World of Gumball and Makoto Katai in Komi Can't Communicate) in English.
During the events of the Final Battle with the Left Arm Nokker and becoming Omnipotent, he refuses to use the power of the Beholder's Sphere to erase the Nokker which after the culmination of the battle the Left Arm Nokker forces themself inside of Fushi spiritually as an attempt to end the Immortal despite being offered peace. After assuring his friends were safe Fushi is left in a state of immense sickness as he fights with the Nokker inside his body which despite being Omnipotent he struggled to contain it's massive power,
He later decides to liberate the new generation of Cybernetic Citezens by removing their longevity and regeneration as well as revive the Mizuha Clones and create an Artificial Doll Body for Abel and quite literally changing the world. After these events the Left Arm Nokker would finally give up on trying to kill Fushi and decide to reincarnate themselves as a human and as they leave Fushi tells the Nokker to come back to him when they have been reborn and for them to not cause chaos; Fushi and his comrades finally spend another 300 years together before Fushi decides to let them move on and finally go off on his own adventures.
Appearance[]
Fushi's default appearance is a young expressionless teenage boy with ear-length white hair and golden irises. At times, he can relatively take the form of anything he wishes, initially mimicking the appearances of objects that were first in his sight.
His earliest form, when he dropped into the world, was simple white sphere with no odd feature. The first thing Fushi took form at the time was a rock, which was the object he first saw. Afterwards, a wolf came, so did Fushi mimicked his appearance.
Personality[]
Fushi is an individual with an inherent kindness and remarkable adaptability propel him through numerous escapade, yet his deficiency in diplomacy and struggles with interpersonal insight consistently generate tension, particularly in contemporary times. Ultimately, he grasps that his companions yearn for fulfillment beyond mere tranquility, recognizing the limitations of his ability to fulfill their desires indefinitely. (but this aspect is shown to be highly taken advantage of by Mizuha in the Modern Arc)
However it is shown on some occasions that Fushi is incredibly short tempered and sensitive, when people are in danger, and he sees people becoming careless, he starts becoming bitter, and when he sees someone die, he constantly goes in a state of turmoil and regret, however in his fight with the Left Arm Nokker in the Modern Arc, he has shown to manage his temper more, as when she told him about Yuki drinking the Nokker contaminated water, he looked extremely agitated, but quickly after seemed calmer very quickly.
Abilities:[]
As the sole immortal being meant to preserve the world by adapting to and replicating stimuli, he was the second experiment created by the Beholder after the Earthenware People, who were originally meant to preserve the world, died due to old age and being bound to mortal bodies, and thus few of them remained, and the remaining few were later destroyed from an attack on their village, the only confirmed survivors were Iddy/Eko and her brother who later died of the physical state he was in. Fushi has a large variety of powers at his disposal that are to help fight the Nokkers and let him continue on his evolution.
- Immortality: Fushi is the sole immortal being (other than his creator) and thus can never truly die, it was even stated that the concept of death is just a change of state for him, Fushi will always regenerate no matter the injury (Unless his forms are taken from him) and can even defy the need for survival resources, such as food, water, however this was shown to be very painful when Fushi attempted this, and even "died" a total of 5 times with it.
- Adaptive Reactability: Fushi´s main ability is to adapt, thus it wields incredible accelerated development and can even gain a consciousness and human emotions, this ability is very powerful, as it was even stated that after being burned by the Church of Benett the heat of Molten Iron no longer even affects him and he would be out of their prison in 2 days. One unique ability Fushi has is to control the aspects of the Beholders powers, while he did refuse to take his powers and become omnipotent, it was highly implied that he still left some of his power, some of which being an orb which is the common thing something created by the Beholder starts out as (a main example being Fushi himself) but even though he chose not to take the Beholder power, he is still the only being left that can use the abilities he left behind after he became Satoru.
- Spiritual Energy Manipulation & Resurrection: Fushi wields the ability to manipulate the energy of souls that remain in reality, a force known as "Fye" and as a piece of the original body's soul remains in the body, when Fushi creates an empty husk, he can revive them by using the remainder of the soul within the body to pull in the remaining parts bringing them back to life, however when he does this, he can no longer transform into that person's body unless they die once more.
- Body Manipulation: Fushi can create multiple bodies to transfer his consciousness into from multiple locations, and when he does this if a Nokkers kills the body, if Fushi is not within the body, they cannot obstruct his forms.
- Semi Non-Corporeality: Fushi is the only being without a soul (Other than his creator) and thus cannot enter paradise or affect anything within paradise (however The Beholder wields this ability) and thus cannot revive anyone from within paradise unless they return, and as Fushi his no soul, he can never truly leave any of his physical bodies (unless obstructed by the Nokkers) and cannot truly die, as he is technically half nonexistent without the aspects of a soul. But even if all of his forms were taken, he would not die, he would simply keep returning back to the state of the orb, and would never truly disappear, however if that were to happen, his consciousness would be completely destroyed and his memories would be permanently be erased, and thus would have to start over again.
- Deceased Shapeshifting: Fushi can adapt and take the form of anything he desires, however he does not fully understand this ability as while in the form of the orb, he would just simply be anything, with his consciousness he commonly needs to see someone die, as the shock and the emotional significance helps him trans form, but it was shown on one one occasion that Fushi can transform into people still alive, as he did this to prevent Hirotashi from getting killed by Mimori´s Nokker in the Modern Arc.
- Object Replication: Fushi wields the ability to replicate any object he has touched before, he can create objects that expand from himself and are also apart of his body, when this happens, the area where his objects surround are his territory where he can sense anything that touches them, and create nearly anything, which he mainly summons in the form of wood or roots, similar but still different to what the Wooden Nokkers do.
- Enhanced Awareness: Fushi is aware and can sense anything that touches his roots in his territory, this allows him to react quickly to situations and sense incoming attacks toward him or anyone else.
- Nature Manipulation: Fushi can manipulate the vines around the planet, as they are apart of his body that he spread throughout the world in 600 years, though these vines are not everywhere and can not penetrate through metal, but once Fushi is inside an area covered in metal, he can simply create new ones that allow him to control the area, he can also use this to summon Molten Iron (Lava) from his roots as he adapted, absorbed, and replicated the heat used from the Church of Benett allowing him to reproduce Lava from his hands or roots, which he nearly used against Izumi´s Nokker.
- Energy Projection: In the Future Arc, while on his horse he created a massive shockwave/amount of energy that blew away both Doro and Kanitaro.
- Skilled Fighter: Over the 39 years Fushi spent on the unknown island he gained much experience, though he had forms that were powerful with their own unique abilities, Fushi wanted to use the nameless boys body only to get stronger on his own accord without the need of relying on others bodies, though he himself stated that he could not "Shoot as well as Parona or get as buff as Gugu" however, he is shown to be extremely good with a sword, though he never directly goes into a sword fight, it is his main weapon he uses against the Nokkers and others, he used this in almost every fight in the Modern Arc, and is shown using it in many of the Mangas Covers.
- All Of His Forms Abilities: He has all the abilities of the people he takes on, weather that's Gugu, March, Hairo, Bon, or OniGuma, however this ability has massive setbacks as in Paronas form, he (sort of) fell in love with a doll, as he thought that the way he was feeling about the toy was because of the fact that Parona thought that March would have liked it, and when Kahaku confessed to Fushi within Parona´s body and approached him, the remaining Fye in her body declined Kahaku as he was the reincarnation of Hayase, the woman who killed March and responsible for Parona´s herself, and thus, was incapable of feeling romantic feelings for Kahaku, though it was never known what Fushi ever felt of Kahaku, but while fighting the Left Arm Nokker, and took on Kahaku´s form, he held him in high regards, and when the Nokker insulted Kahaku´s form, Fushi said not to mock his comrade, this is also shown in the future arc as when he uses Yuki´s body, he gains his personality and optimistic perspectives.
After Chapter 199 (Spoilers for the Future Arc)[]
After the events of the elimination of all Humans and Cybernetic Citizens on Earth with only Fushi, the Immortal Army, Mizuha Clones, The General, and Rabbit Day left alive and while Rabbit Day attempted to give the Beholder's Sphere to the General (who was actually revealed to be the Left Arm Nokker that resided in all of the Guardians leaders) Fushi managed to intercept this attempt and grab the sphere before the General could and used Satoru's form to protect himself from the energy; he absorbed the power of the Sphere granting him all of the powers of the Beholder making him into an Omnipotent being. The abilities he has currently demonstrated with these powers are listed below:
Omnipotence: After absorbing the powers of The Beholder via the Sphere Fushi becomes a "Truly Omnipotent" being which despite this statement itself he is not truly Omnipotent on principle however is capable of performing nearly any feat and manipulate any external force at will with aside from a few things, Fushi's or The Beholder's limits are yet to be tested.
Nigh-Omnipresence: After absorbing the powers of The Beholder Fushi become one with all of Creation allowing him to feel everything and everyone as he managed to briefly become all members of the Immortal Army at multiple places at once; and mixed with the power of 'Territorial Dominion' this grants Fushi virtual Omnipresence.
Shapeshifting: After absorbing The Beholder's powers Fushi gained the ability to transform into any of his forms weather alive or dead regardless and he could presumably transform into anything he wants as well.
Size Manipulation: Fushi briefly demonstrated the ability to change size at will where he accidentally transformed into March and grew her to a size larger than the Kaibara Cybernetics Base in the sky causing him to bang his head on it which caused him to accidentally transform into Iddy/Eko nearby and go to a near sub-atomic size which briefly allowed him to see a Nokker up close, though because he was in shock due to being too close to it he accidentally transformed into another body elsewhere once more.
Enhanced Resurrection: Fushi gained the ability to resurrect others even if their souls were in paradise, as long as they accepted no matter the condition they could return to their original bodies; although it should be noted that if a person is resurrected within another body while the same person is still alive the second body will just have a blank soul with no memories of said person where the first person would stay as the original soul; It should also be noted that he did not resurrect Abel nor the Mizuha Clones using this version of the power, rather the one Fushi had already had due to him resurrecting their Fye rather than intercepting them from Paradise.
Meta Matter Manipulation: Like The Beholder after absorbing the power of the Sphere Fushi gains the ability to manipulate Matter on a near-limitless scale with feats showing him using Telekinesis on a technological cylinder to entire humans as well as his mere presence causing all matter in the Earth (if not the entire universe) to completely cease without anyone's consciousness remaining as if he had stopped time; though it should be noted that this ability has no affect on spiritual beings as they are not beings made of matter but of fye as demonstrated with Fen and Nixon, however this excludes the Nokkers if they are residing in a physical body despite being spiritual in nature.
Omnificence: After absorbing The Beholder's powers Fushi gains the ability to create anything or anyone he desires; despite not being shown by Fushi it was stated by The Beholder that Fushi could create entire universes with his power; and presumably much more.
Cosmic Awareness: After becoming one with everything Fushi gains immense cosmic knowledge, which while not even close to Omniscience Fushi revealed the cause of the Beholder's Powers influence on the Universe upon its creation on a conceptual level.
Air Mimicry: While 'fighting' the General after reconstructing himself multiple times Fushi decided to reconstruct himself as part of the wind itself appearing as mist with parts of the nameless boy's body that was immune to physical harm due to its intangible nature.
