Biography[]

Background[]

Gabriel "Gabe" Jones grew up in Manhattan, New York with his uncle Bill Leonard, and became an exceptional jazz musician. He become well known for playing the trumpet, and received some training from the legendary musician Louis Armstrong, and later Danny "Drummer" Bellaman.

Howling Commandos[]

Jones and Bellaman would join the United States Army during World War II, and they were noticed by Army Intelligence due their knack for jazz music. Jones would be sent to a high specialty school by top brass due to his musical talent, and he became skilled in learning how to play German music. He would then be enlisted into the Howling Commandos by "Happy" Sam Sawyer under the command of Nick Fury, and Jones become a pivotal member due to his marksmanship and musical skills in combat.

During the Second World War, Jones and the Commandos would fight against some of of the Nazi Party's greatest members - Red Skull, Wolfgang von Strucker, Baron Heinrich Zemo, and Colonel Klaue, but would also defeat the villains and their soldiers. The Howling Commandos became so dreaded by the Nazi Party that the Axis power formed the Blitzkrieg Squad, a group to be the opposite of the American squad. Due to the formation of the Blitzkrieg Squad, member Otto Rabe was placed as Jones' nemesis since he was also a musician.

During the war, Jones and the Commandos would meet Captain America, and assisted him in protecting Wakanda from Red Skull and his forces in taking over the country. Gabe would protect Wakanda's princes, T'Chaka and S'Yan from the Armless Tiger Man, and their father Azzuri offered citizenship to Jones to become one of Wakanda. While staying there, Fury tasked Jones to acquire some Vibranium for the military, but Jones lied to Nick on completing the mission since he couldn't betray the trust of Azzuri. After the war was won, Jones returned home before re-joining the Howling Commandos during the start of the Korean War.

Becoming an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.[]

Once the war was over, Jones would become a member of S.H.I.E.L.D., a secret organization formed to protect the world from threats. He became one of Fury's most closest aides, helping him on operating the organization while also going on missions as a field operative to fight Hydra, the Maggia, and A.I.M. on several occasions. The most notable mission Jones participated in infiltrating the Secret Empire, and would cause the organization to crumble from the inside. Around this time, Jones began a romantic relationship with Peggy Carter, who became a fellow agent during the 1970s. Despite retiring from S.H.I.E.L.D. during the 1980s, Jones would return to duty as a member of the Howling Commandos PMC, but he would be killed by the Gorgon.
