~ Freddy's goal as seen in one of the minigames |
Gabriel, later known as Freddy Fazbear is a major antagonist and the titular character of the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise.
He is a child who was lured and killed at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza by William Afton and later went on to to possessed the restaurant's animtronic mascot with the help of the Puppet. He would hunt down and attempt to kill the night guard at atleast two Freddy Fazbear's Pizza locations mistaking them for his murderer. Despite this, he does have good intentions as he wants to avenge himself and his friends while also protecting other children from suffering the same fate he did.
In the unused "Showtime!" song in Five Nights at Freddy's VR: Help Wanted, as well as Funko Fusion, he is voiced by Kellen Goff. In Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery, he is voiced by Tim Simmons.
Appearance[]
It is currently unknown what Gabriel looked like before his death. In Help Wanted, during Freddy's level in the Parts & Service section, inside of Freddy is a red cap with Helpy's face on it and red baseball shoes which may have belonged to Gabriel. In Five Nights at Freddy's 3, he is portrayed as a white silhouette with black eyes and dark grey tears streaming from them. In the "Happiest Day" minigame, he wears a mask of the Freddy Fazbear, the animtronic he possesses.
As Freddy Fazbear, he is a large, tall, brown, anthropomorphic bear. He dawns a black tophat over his head and a bowtie of the same color underneath his chin. He has hazel blue eyes with dark eyebrows above them, along with black freckles on his muzzle. He has four fingers and three toes with ridges on his feet. He also has a faint handprint on his right eye. His joints are also separated allowing for a little bit of his endoskeleton to be seen.
In the second game, which is a prequel to the first, Freddy appears cruder looking, while having much more dirt and grime on his body. He has large tears on his arms and legs exposing his interior, with loose wires sticking out of his joints. His head is more square-shaped making him appear taller. His bowtie is angular and he has two black buttons on his chest, as well as a taller tophat.
Personality[]
Like the other missing children, Gabriel harbors a strong hatred towards his killer, doing everything in his power to avenge himself and his friends for their deaths. As Freddy, he is a happy go lucky and cheerful. Acting very kind towards children always wanting to make them happy. He is very protective towards them, not wanting them to die the same way he did. This is seen in the "SAVE THEM" minigame, where he and the Puppet try to stop William Afton from murdering another set of children. Despite this, Gabriel's judgment is often clouded by a mistrust towards adults due to him dying while trusting one. As a result, he often finds himself hunting down and trying to kill the night guard, no matter the cost.
At night, Freddy Fazbear becomes hostile and dangerous, and will stop at nothing to stuff the night guard into a spare suit. As the leader of the band, he is cunning, strategic, and quite intelligent. In FNAF 1, he will patiently wait on stage for the first two nights, studying his victim's behavior like a predator stalking its prey. All while the rest of the animatronics do the work. When he does become active he will only move when the player is not checking the cameras. When he is at your door, he will wait for the monitor to be lowered, then while your guard is down he will enter your office and may wait a few moments before ending your life. According to The Week Before, Freddy will either bite or twist your head off depending on his mood.
Freddy is also quite sadistic, as whenever he moves he will laugh, signaling his presence. This laughter seems to be a sign of enjoyment at his victims' suffering. He also enjoys playing classical music with his internal music box as a way of toying with the night guard and bringing them into a false sense of comfort. It's implied that the other animatronics possess a sense of both fear, and respect for their leader. This is demonstrated by The Week Before, which shows the animatronics running away from an area as soon as Freddy appears. This is either to give him space as a sign of respect, or a sign of fear as the animatronics are afraid of what he can do. Freddy will never move off stage until Bonnie and Chica have done so, which may be his way of reciprocating some form of respect.
Freddy seems to have a connection to the Puppet, or at least a stronger one compared to the other animatronics. As seen in "SAVE THEM" where he is shown teaming up with it to complete a save Afton's victims, and in the pre-night cutscenes from FNAF 2, where the Puppet is shown looming in front of Freddy, staring at him wherever he turns.
