Galactic Rangers

The Galactic Rangers are a heroic faction in the Ratchet & Clank series. They are an primarily robotic army that operates under the command of the Solana galactic government and assists Ratchet in his battles. They first appear in Up Your Arsenal, and subsequently appear in the comic series.

They also reappear in the re-imagined 2016 film and its video game adaptation. Instead of being solely a robot army, it is primarily run by Captain Qwark, Ratchet, Clank, Cora, Elaris and Brax Lectrus.

Up Your Arsenal[]

While Ratchet and Clank were residing in the Bogon Galaxy after the events of Going Commando, they learn that Ratchet's home planet Veldin is under attack. The Galactic Rangers are seen attempting to fight back, but they are outmatched. Ratchet decides to head back home, taking Clank with him, to assist in the battle. Here, they meet with the Rangers, who assign Ratchet as their new sergeant, equipping him with two new guns. With Ratchet's help, they are successful in repelling the tyhrranoids from the Kyzil Plateau, and they rendezvous at a dropship. They learn that they have been ordered to defend the F-Sector, to their fear. However, Ratchet insists they have a planet to save, leading them to said location.

Upon arriving, they dive out of the dropship, and successfully take out all the tyhrranoids, ending the threat on Veldin. They receive a transmission from their commander, President Phyronix, who recognizes Clank from his holo-film, and informs them about the urgency of stopping Dr. Nefarious, who was the mastermind behind the attack. He shows a transmission of an unknown man believed to be the only one who is capable of defeating Nefarious, who is located on Florana, and later revealed to be Captain Qwark. After Ratchet and Clank extract Qwark, they take him to the Starship Phoenix, a hub for the Galactic Rangers and commanded by Sasha Phyronix, the president's daughter.

Soon, the presidential compound on planet Marcadia is assaulted by tyhrranoids, leading Ratchet and Clank to once again fight them off with the Rangers once more. Although they are successful in saving the planet, they have compromised the shield security system, in which Ratchet and Clank fix. After Qwark regains his memory, he would form the Q-Force, who would operate independently from the Rangers, but assist each other where possible.

The Rangers assist Ratchet and Clank in leading an attack on the Korgon Base on tyhrranosis, where the tyhrranoids operate from. Together, they work to destroy four plasma turrets, while Ratchet and Clank fight the Momma Tyhrranoid personally, successfully defeating it. The Rangers also launch an attack on Kavu Island, a military base, by supplying Ratchet with a hovership.

As Ratchet and Clank are in pursuit of Nefarious on the Obani Moons, they are contacted by the Rangers, who inform Ratchet that Blackwater City is under siege by tyhrranoids. In return for their help in thwarting the Siege, Ratchet receives a pair of gravity boots. The Rangers would not be seen again until Nefarious uses the Biobliterator on Metropolis, which turned all the tyhrranoids and inhabitants into robots. Once again, Ratchet and Clank defeat the forces responsible for the attack, and receives a map-o-matic as a gift. Similarly, they launch one final defensive response to tyhrranoid forces on Aridia. Although initially they claim to Ratchet that they are celebrating the birthday party of a ranger, Ratchet immediately figures they need help. He would receive a warp pad as a reward. They are also present when the Starship Phoenix is under attack by Nefarious's robotic army.

The Rangers make one final appearance during Ratchet's direct confrontation with Dr. Nefarious, fighting off Nefarious's warbots so that Ratchet could fight him uninterrupted. When Nefarious transforms his Biobliterator into a giant mech, the Rangers supply Ratchet with a hovership once again to assist him in destroying it successfully. Following the defeat of Nefarious, there are Rangers seen in the audience during the premiere of the new Secret Agent Clank episode.
