Gan Fall is the deuteragonist of the Skypeia Arc from One Piece manga/anime series. He is the "God" of Skypeia, having been usurped and exiled once by Enel prior to the main storyline. He works as a mercenary in order to oppose Enel's rule.
His voice is provided by the late Jōji Yanami, then later replaced by Masaharu Sato in the Japanese version and by John Swasey in the English dub version.
Personality[]
He is a virtually noble old man who yearns to protect the innocent, rebelling against the tyrannical rule of Enel. This selfishness allows him to save the Straw Hats from incoming threats, risking his life in the process. Being the "God" of Skypeia, Gan Fall does not rule over them out of selfishness, but rather with compassion and concern for their well being such as when Gan Fall wanted to end the centuries-old conflict between Skypeians and Shandorians through peace and coexistence, seeking diplomatic resolve which embodies his ideals.
Biography[]
Gan Fall was born 68 years ago. He met the Pirate King Gol D. Roger around 25 years ago during the Pirate King's last journey. For years, he yearned a peace treaty for both Skypeians and the Shandorians, but often do not end well due to their unreasonable proposition and some strained relationship between him and Wyper in the past.
At some point in time, Enel and his followers invaded Skypeia, ultimately defeating Gan Fall, usurping his position as the God of Skypeia. Gan Fall went to hiding as a result, choosing to become a mercenary.
Skypeia Saga[]
Gan Fall would first meet the Straw Hats during their journey on the Sky Island after their ship was under attack by Wyper. Although he offered his services but having heard their adventures that led them in Skypeia, he bestowed his whistle to them, briefly introducing himself as a mercenary to the Straw Hats and his steed before departing.
When Tony Tony Chopper blew the whistle that was given by Gan Fall, he rushed forward and fought Shura. However, Shura gained the upper hand and pierced him with his heated lance, although Chopper saved him to prevent Shura from burning the Going Merry. Chopper aided his injuries. During the survival game instigated by Enel, Nami and Gan Fall faced both Hotori and Kotori, lieutenants from God's Army. Both twins were ultimately defeated when Gan Fall initiated a counter attack with the smoke screen created by the Flame Dial, which the twins thought have overwhelmed the mercenary and Nami using her Clima-tact to defeat Hotori and Kotori.
Later on, Gan Fall went to the shrine in search of Enel, only to find that the shrine has been abandoned. As he enters Shandora, he met with Wyper, Roronoa Zoro, Nola and one of priests, Ohm alongside the Divine Soldiers. As they fought, he was swallowed by Nola and happens to reunite with both Monkey D. Luffy and Nami alonsgide a little girl named Aisa. Escaping from the serpent's belly, Gan Fall was one of the survivors of Enel's death games. Enel, Nico Robin, Zoro and Gan Fall heard Enel's offer to join the Fairy Vearth as he deems them worthy, only for all four to decline his offer. As a result, they were singlehandedly defeated by Enel's Devil Fruit abilities.
After Enel was defeated by Luffy, he retired as a mercenary and became Skypeia's "God" once again.

- Unlike most Sky People, Gan Fall lack angel wings.
- His name is likely a reference to Olórin who is better known as Gandalf, the main protagonist of J. R. R. Tolkien's middle-earth legendarium.
- His favorite food is pumpkin juice.
