General Bucephalus Calpurnia Higgings is Ladonna Compson's pet white rat in Arthur. Although he was only a minor character in his and Ladonna's debut episode, "Based on a True Story", he had a heroic role in his second appearance, "Pets and Pests", where he got a mouse that was living in the Read household to leave.
In "Pets and Pests" (which was his first speaking role), he was voiced by Zachary Bennett.
Appearances[]
Based on a True Story[]
General Higgings makes his debut in this episode along with his owner Ladonna. He is seen when Ladonna picks him up out of his cage. His name is not said in the episode.
Pets and Pests[]
This episode is Higgings' first major appearance and his first speaking role. Ladonna brings him to the Reads' house to introduce him to Arthur, but he escapes her bag before she gets the chance to and goes to ask Pal and Nemo where he can get water. However, Nemo mistakes him for the mouse that is living in the Reads' house and runs away in fear. After Higgings explains to Pal and Kate that he isn't the mouse, he asks if he should go ask the mouse to leave the house, which Pal and Kate agree to. He goes to the mouse and convinces him to go to Nigel Ratburn's house instead by telling him he has a lot of cheese, which succeeds. Just then, D.W. walks up behind Higgings and, mistaking him for the mouse, is about to smack him with a broom, but Ladonna stops her and tells her that he is her pet rat. The scene then cuts to Ladonna showing Higgings jump through a hoop to D.W., which is a trick Ladonna taught him. D.W. then pets his head. When the exterminator the Reads hired to deal with the mouse arrives, Ladonna prepares to take Higgings back home, and he says goodbye to Pal and Kate. D.W. asks if she can play with him again sometime, and Ladonna tells her she can whenever she wants.
