~ Gerudo Sage |
The Gerudo Sage is a supporting character in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. She was the Sage of Lightning, who once fought the Demon King Ganondorf, alongside the ancient Sages. She was given the Secret Stone by Rauru and she vows to serve him and save Hyrule from falling to the Demon King.
History[]
Past[]
After Queen Sonia was assassinated and had her Secret Stone taken from her by Ganondorf, who uses it to become the Demon King, Rauru summons the powerful warriors for the task of turning the tables against Ganondorf. The Gerudo Sage, who had turned away from the Gerudo King, sadly reports that he has taken over the last of the Gerudo villages. Rauru leads them to a chamber where there are four Secret Stones that were kept hidden. Once the Sages acquire their Secret Stones, they make a vow to save Hyrule under Rauru's service.
The Gerudo Sage and the Sages fought the Demon King during the Imprisoning War as hard as they could, but Ganondorf was too powerful for them, so Rauru goes the extra mile and sacrificing his life to imprison Ganondorf in place. Eventually, Princess Zelda pays the Gerudo Sage a visit and warns her that Ganondorf will eventually break out of his seal, and she would need the support of the Gerudo's power over lightning to support her appointed knight. The Gerudo Sage clenched her fist upon hearing his name and lets her know that the Gerudo were responsible for his existance and how he has brought shame upon them and wishes for her people to atone for their actions and distance themselves from their link to Ganondorf; in the meantime, she promises her that one of her descendants will answer her call when the time came. The Gerudo Sage and the others look on as Princess Zelda transforms into the immortal Light Dragon to repair the broken Master Sword and to return to her time.
Present[]
In the present age, Queen Gohma caused one of the worst sandstorms in recorded history which turned Gerudo Desert into a haunted wasteland and created hives of Gibdos to attack anyone who becomes lost and affecting technical devices. This results in the Gerudo inhabitants going into hiding. After Link helps Riju and the Gerudo defend Kara Kara Bazaar and Gerudo Town, and solving the riddle regarding the Lightning Temple, Riju hears the Gerudo Sage's voice call out to her, telling her to come to her. After confronting Queen Gohma early on, they head inside where the Gerudo Sage instructs Riju to recharge all five batteries to activate the elevator. Upon doing so and reaching the highest floor, Queen Gohma was waiting for them, but Link and Riju managed to defeat her ending the sandstorm and minimizing Gibdo attacks. Riju touches the Secret Stone that faced her, and she meets with the Gerudo Sage, who recounts the story of the Imprisoning War to her and how the sandstorms and Gibdo infestations were done to prevent Riju from becoming the new Sage. She tells her that she must accept her destiny to become the new Sage if Hyrule is to survive. Riju accepts her Secret Stone which then attaches to her earring.

Trivia[]
- The Gerudo Sage's helm that she wears on her head resembles Divine Beast Vah Naboris. It's possible that this is what inspired Vah Naboris's design when it was first constructed in an age where Hyrule is becoming more technologically advanced before Calamity Ganon first appeared.
