This giant alien woman had a hostile encounter with two human astronauts when they landed on her farm. She is the protagonist of the aptly named 1961 The Twilight Zone episode "The Invaders," the 15th episode of the series' second season.

Her alien nature was hidden until the end of the episode, meaning she did not utter a single line of dialogue throughout the episode, as her alien language would've immediately given the twist away. Externally, the alien appears identical to an elderly human woman, although she stands at approximately 22 meters tall.

The giant alien woman was portrayed by the late Agnes Moorhead.

Biography[]

Early life[]

The giant alien woman was an impoverished member of a species of giant agrarian humanoids, living in a secluded handmade farmhouse far from any settlement, with no electricity, gas, or modern amenities, caring for herself for many years.

The giant alien woman sees a human astronaut

At some point in the future, the giant alien woman, now elderly, was preparing vegetables in a pot one night, when she heard a deafening noise on her roof, climbing up to the attic to investigate, finding that a spaceship had broken through the roof and into the attic. The ship appeared to be a miniature flying saucer to her, designated US Air Force Space Probe No. 1, and one of the two humans within then exited the craft, the alien now scared of the "tiny" creature clad in an armored space suit. The astronaut waved at the alien, but the frightened giant kicked him down the open trap door. The other astronaut, taking it as an act of hostility, also exited the ship and began shooting at the alien with an energy gun, and despite the fact that the alien's large size rendered the blasts non-lethal, they still left radiation burns on the alien's skin, causing immense pain and making her flee downstairs.

The astronauts then followed her, now intent on killing her, stalking her throughout the house, using their energy guns and swiping giant knives that they used to cut the alien's ankle and hand. After fleeing across a few rooms while trying to defend herself, the giant alien then found an astronaut, named Gresham, under the covers of her bed. Recognizing the threat and opportunity to neutralize it, the alien quickly grabbed Gresham, still wrapped in covers, and beat the astronaut to death against the bedframe, before throwing the body into the lit fireplace. The alien then saw the other astronaut running out the room, following him to the attic while grabbing a hatchet, intending to finally end the astronaut threat. When the astronaut entered the ship, the alien promptly destroyed the ship with the hatchet, killing the other astronaut, but not before briefly stopping upon hearing the astronaut send a message to his superiors warning them of the giants. After destroying the ship, the giant alien climbed back downstairs, thoroughly exhausted.
