Giant Owls

Giant Owls are the overarching protagonists of the Sonic Cinematic Universe. They were an order of alien birds who stole the Master Emerald from the Echidnas, and fought to prevent them from regaining it. Eventually, the Giant Owls went extinct, with the last of them, Longclaw, sacrificing herself to protect her foster child Sonic.

Past[]

Ages ago, when the Echidna Tribe united the seven Chaos Emeralds to form the Master Emerald and use it as a weapon, the Giant Owls ambushed them and stole the powerful gemstone, believing that nobody had the right to wield such a weapon. They took the Master Emerald to the planet Earth and hid it in a temple close to Hawaii, with the compass leading to it hidden in another temple in Siberia. For centuries, Owls and Echidnas fought for the Master Emerald, and the majority of both tribes died out, until only one owl, Longclaw, and a handful of the echidnas were left.

Sonic the Hedgehog[]

Longclaw resides on Mobius, raising a hedgehog named Sonic, who could run at supersonic speeds. One day, their house was ambushed by the last Echidna warriors led by Pachacamac, who expected to find out the Master Emerald's location at long last. Longclaw sent Sonic to hide on Earth with a bag of portal rings and the map to the Master Emerald, holding the Echidnas off so her could escape. She then fought them back and slain all of them, but ended up succumbing to her own wounds.

Legacy[]

Longclaw's death would be memorised by the residents of Mobius who turned her house into a shrine. Ten years later, Sonic and Tails would take up Longclaw's quest to keep the Master Emerald hidden from any villains who may want to take it.
