Gideon Bastius is a supporting character of the 2017 fantasy web novel series The Beginning After the End and its 2018 manwha series and later 2025 anime adaptations from the same name.
He is a former Professor of the Xyrus Academy and renowned artificer, researcher, and inventor of Dicathen. Recognized as one of the most genius inventors from his scientific and invention breakthroughs as she is shown to be the smartest person in the room and loves to be well known till his encounter with Arthur who collaborates with him, creating a newest invention, the steamship Dichateous.
Appearance[]
He was described as short, hunchman when Arthur visited him in his first encounter. His signature is spotted in a dirty lab as the goggles were hanged around his neck as his curly hair seems to be struck by lightning more than one occasion which would complimented his dark bagged eyes. His facial features are complex accompanied by his wrinkled forehead and a mole between his furry eyebrows
Personality[]
He is often shown to be not welcoming towards others and is seen to be grumpy on others, which he tends to be hot tempered in which he often grumbles to himself. In according to Arthur's testament, he is a reliable and trustworthy individual despite his quirky and eccentric personality. Being recognized as the genius artificer in Dicathen, he has a long sense obsession of technological advancements, in which he is often engrossed to develop through new ideas with other gadgets in which some call him crazy and insane for his bold risk on hazardous materials on projects, involving materials that deemed dangerous. After his encounter with Arthur, he later develops an admiration and considers him an asset for the knowledge he wielded and acknowledges Arthur as the smartest individual compared to himself in which he sees he talks to Arthur as an adult, not just a child.
Biography[]
Being renowned as the artificer, researcher and inventor in residing to Sapin, in responsible for the most genius inventions given they're advanced. In the result of his accomplishment and capabilities, he later became acquainted to Vincent Helesta especially the Glayder family, given in the recent years that he established relations of the royal families as Dicathen began uniting as they improve. In the later series, an artifact was discovered after an individual adventurer shot down a beast that was never part of the Dicathen species, this caught attention to him as a a device was found to be recorded as footage which he never seen before, believing there was another continent spying on them. He was later ordered by the families to create craft that has the capability to cross to another continent, which resulted to many attempts, resulting in failure, unable to create a ship with capabilities.

This is noted when he deduct the Dichateous situation is under the hands of Alacryan Terrorists who later have their weapons arsenal given their technology is way more advanced from them.

- Tobi: A fighter artifact that is capable for suiting on sparring and training with mages, consisting of different levels in making adjustments wether the opponent wishes to increase their levels.
