Girion is a minor characters in J.K Tolkien middle-earth series. He is the last lord of Dale and the great ancestor of Bard and Bain, who perished during his great last stand against the great Smaug.

He is potrayed by Luke Evans, he also potrayed his descendant in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Owen Shaw in The Fast and Furious franchise, Aramis in the 2011 adaptation of The Three Musketeers, Vlad the Impaler in Dracula's Untold.

Biography[]

The Hobbit[]

Girion was a man of Dale, at some point he become the lord of the city. He married a woman and had two sons before the desolation of his city. Girion was once the owner of the necklace which he later gives to the dwarfs as payment for the armor crafted out of mithril.

When the Smaug arrives at his city with wrath, Girion bravely leads his army of mens to fight against the dragon. However, the dragon fierce armor is too strong against the armies, leading to Girion putting out his last resort, the silver arrow. Despite shooting multipule shots against the dragon, none of them managed to pierce through the armor yet one shot managed to break a piece under the dragon's belly.

Before Girion could shoot one final arrow however, he is killed in the battle against the dragon. Yet many years later on, his surviving wife and childrens continues his bloodlines, his death is avenged by his very descendant Bard the Bowman, who kill the dragon with the last arrow.

Legacy[]

After Girion's death, his child Brandjarn uphold his title and become a heroic king during the first war againsts Sauron.

  • The plotline of the last silver arrow is only exclusive the film and is never mentioned in the books written by Tolkien.
