History[]
Post-Apocalypse[]
Atlanta[]
Originally working as a pizza delivery driver in Atlanta, he managed to become a survivor of the outbreak. In the pilot episode, Glenn would go on to save the main protagonist Rick Grimes from being stuck inside an old tank, being completely surrounded by Walkers. Following this, Glenn takes Rick to the top of a building where he meets other survivors, Andrea, Morales, T-Dog, Jacqui and Merle Dixon. After Rick handcuffs Merle for his violent behavior, he covers himself in guts, with Glenn reaching a car on the street among the Walkers and fleeing. So Glenn drives a car with a loud siren and reaches the survivors' camp in the mountains and is later followed by the rest of the group, except for Merle, who is still handcuffed on the roof of the building.
Glenn reluctantly takes part in rescuing Merle, and is kidnapped by other hostile survivors who end up sympathizing with Rick and his group. When they return to camp at night, they discover Walkers attacking the survivors and killing several members, including Ed Peletier and Andrea's sister Amy. Following the attack on the camp, the group travels to the CDC where they meet a scientist, Edwin Jenner, who has been working in vain to find a cure for the outbreak. After nearly dying in the CDC's self-destruct, Glenn and the survivors travel towards Fort Benning, but along the way, they lose Sophia after encountering a horde of Walkers on the highway.
The Greene's Farm[]
When the group searches for Sophia in the forest, they come across Maggie Greene who warns them that Rick and her father's farm are treating Carl, who was shot earlier by Otis. The whole group therefore arrives at Hershel's house and temporarily settles in with him while they find Sophia. Glenn helps with the search and he also becomes closer to Maggie, who develops into a romantic interest. Glenn also secretly learns that Lori is pregnant and that Hershel's barn is full of Walkers. Unable to hide all of this from the others, with Dale's help, he warns everyone about the barn, which enrages Shane, who in a violent breakdown, kills all the Walkers inside along with the rest of the group.
Following the event, a completely disillusioned Hershel goes into town to a bar to get drunk. When Beth passes out and falls unconscious from shock, Rick and Glenn go into town to bring Hershel back to the farm. There, they meet two affable but suspicious individuals Dave and Tony who question them about the farm. When Rick realizes that they are dangerous, he kills them both in cold blood in front of Hershel and Glenn. As night falls, the rest of Dave and Tony's gang arrive at the bar, and cause a shootout. Rick, Glenn and Hershel manage to neutralize them and they are forced to bring one of the thugs back to the farm after he is seriously injured in the leg.
The group debates Randall's fate at length and Dale tries in vain to get him spared. The majority, including Glenn, accept that Randall be executed, but that same night, it is Dale who is attacked and fatally injured by a Walker. He is mercifully shot in the head by Daryl and the next day a funeral is held for him. Later, Shane makes Randall secretly escapes , kills him in the forest and lies to the whole group by claiming that he escaped from the cabin. Glenn therefore goes looking for him with Daryl, and they come across Randall, now turned into Walker. They are disconcerted to see that he has transformed with a broken neck and no bite. In the following, Glenn and the survivors protect the farm from being completely overrun by Walkers and they are forced to flee. They end up in the middle of the forest where Rick tells them about his murder of Shane as well as the fact that everyone is infected and that they can turn no matter how they die.
The Prison[]
Starting in Season 3, Rick and the group find refuge in an abandoned penitentiary center and clean it of all the Walkers they come across. They also meet some inmates who seek to take control of the place while others agree to help the group. During the first episodes, T-Dog dies as does Lori after giving birth to a baby, Judith.
In order to feed the her, Glenn and Maggie go on a supply run where they come across Merle who takes them by force to Woodbury. In the community, Glenn is kept prisoner and is brutally tortured by Merle into revealing the location of the prison. Maggie eventually spit it out when the Governor, Woodbury's leader threatens to kill Glenn. Rick, Daryl and Michonne, a newcomer, come to their aid in Woodbury and cause a shooting which kills some members of the community. On the way home, tensions rise because of Merle and his actions and Daryl decides to leave the group to stay with his brother. Glenn then argues with Rick about this while secretly enraged over the Governor's sexual assault of Maggie.
Following this, the group returns to the prison and stands ready to retaliate against a potential attack from the Governor. Throughout much of the season, Glenn appears resentful and Hershel attempts to dissuade him from making reckless or dangerous choices. He is also very skeptical and wary of bringing Merle into the group and later proposes to Maggie. At the end of the season, Rick's group makes one last fight against the Governor and his army and they succeed in repelling them. After the Governor massacres his entire army and flees, Rick and the other survivors take the remaining residents of Woodbury into the prison.
In Season 4, Glenn actively participates in the Prison community and also becomes one of the members of the Council chaired by Hershel. At one point, a serious flu affects the survivors who after their death return as Walkers, which causes chaos in the prison. Glenn is then one of the infected and is taken care of by Hershel who tries to treat as many people as possible.
Being sidelined due to his illness, he is unaware that the Governor has returned and kidnapped Michonne and Hershel to pressure Rick into letting him go to prison. After the Governor decapitates Hershel, the two groups shoot at each other and Maggie has Glenn and the other weak survivors placed on a school bus. We later learn that Glenn was no longer inside when the bus left the prison. After the battle, Glenn wakes up having been unconscious, still in the prison, now infested with Walkers. He meets Tara Chambler who was with the Governor and together they manage to leave the prison.
Along the way, Tara expresses remorse for participating in the attack on the Governor and she also reveals Hershel's death to Glenn. When she urges Glenn to leave her as punishment, Glenn establishes that he needs her to survive and find Maggie. They then come across a trio of survivors, Abraham, Rosita and Eugene whom they then join. As they continue their journey together, Glenn and Tara become separated from the trio when Glenn wants to go his own way to find Maggie. However, they are quickly found by the latter with Abraham, Rosita, Eugene, Bob and Sasha. Tensions rise when Abraham's stubbornness in going to Washington pushes him to make dangerous decisions and Eugene reveals he is not a real scientist.
Then Rick's entire group confronts Gareth and the Hunters whom they brutally murder, making Glenn and a few others uncomfortable and part of the group goes looking for Beth who is trapped in a hospital. Unfortunately, Beth is killed by Dawn and the group wanders through the forest until they come across a mysterious individual, Aaron.
Alexandria[]
Aaron takes them to a community called Alexandria led by Deanna Monroe. Glenn then clashes with Aiden, Deanna'son and a supply runner who makes rash decisions outside the walls of Alexandria. During a resupply mission, Aiden is left for dead by his own recklessness, and Nicholas cowardly abandons Glenn and Noah in the warehouse where they were. Attacked by Walkers, Noah is graphically devoured before Glenn's eyes. Back in Alexandria, Glenn forbids Nicholas from going outside, leading Nicholas to become paranoid about revealing his actions.
Nicholas repeatedly tries to kill Glenn, but he fails. The two eventually find common ground. During a mission with the entire community to divert a horde from the safe zone, Glenn and Nicholas find themselves trapped by the Walkers and Nicholas, overwhelmed by fear, commits suicide and causes Glenn to fall in his fall. Glenn is then thought dead, but it turns out he survived and he runs into Enid. He gives hope to the teenager who refused to return to Alexandria, but they join the community together.
Glenn and his friends then learn of the existence of a huge group of hostile and oppressive survivors called the Saviors. They travel to Hilltop Colony where they meet Jesus and the cowardly leader of the place, Gregory, completely submissive to the Saviors. Overconfident, Rick decides to eliminate this tyrannical group, but he is quickly dominated by the power of the Saviors. On the other hand, Glenn was kidnapped by the Saviors along with a few other members of Rick's group.
Death[]
When Rick and his group walk into the forest carrying a weak Maggie because of her pregnancy, they are trapped by the Saviors who line them all up on their knees just before Negan arrives. Glenn and the others are also lined up and Negan introduces himself to them. As retaliation for the deaths of his men killed by Rick's group, Negan decides to kill one member and sadistically plays Eenie, Meenie, Minie, Moe to choose who it will be. He then points to Abraham, whom he violently beats to death with Lucille, his baseball bat. Enraged, Daryl attacks him but he is quickly subdued. Because of his action, Negan decides to kill another member of the group and then hits Glenn in the head. With his face bloodied and in agony, Glenn says goodbye to Maggie, promising that he will find her. Seeing the group's horrified faces, Negan apologizes for what he's doing, before killing Glenn once and for all by beating him to death as well. The next day, Glenn's corpse is taken away and he is buried at Hilltop.
Legacy[]
Glenn's death left a huge void in Rick's group and made Maggie extremely cold and vengeful towards Negan and the Saviors. During the War of the Saviors, she uses several extreme and ruthless means to achieve her ends, and tensions rise with Rick who wishes to spare Negan despite all his atrocities.
