Gnorris is the deuteragonist of the 1995 educational computer game I.M. Meen for MS-DOS. He is a gnome who works under I.M. Meen, but decided to help the children escape his labyrinth. Throughout the game he gives the player hints and warns them whenever a boss is nearby.

He was voiced by John Mahon.

Biography[]

Gnorris was originally a gnome who worked as I.M. Meen's slave, but he decided to help the children escape his labyrinth after Meen trapped them in his book. He is first seen crawling away from Meen as he is singing the game's intro song. When the game starts, he gives the player a magic orb so he can communicate with them whenever he needs to. He usually shows up to give the player hints.

Towards the end of the game, he helps the player acquire "Writewell's Book of Better Grammar" to help defeat I.M. Meen. After Meen's defeat, he is never seen again, and it is unknown what happened to him.

Personality[]

Gnorris is shown to be kind hearted and cowardly. He may be brave enough to help the children behind I.M. Meen's back, but he is shown to be very scared of being caught, openly admitting to his fear of being turned into a warthog by Meen; Although when he is helping the player fix the grammar mistakes in Meen's poorly written self-insert stories, he shows a bit more confidence.

Trivia[]

  • This game was created by Animation Magic, the same company that made the infamous Legend of Zelda CD-i games. As such, Gnorris has been used as a character in countless YouTube Poop videos. There is even a parody of the character named "Chuck Gnorris", a combination of Gnorris and famous actor Chuck Norris.
  • Gnorris's name is a play on the word "gnome", and the name "Norris".
